I have been a customer for several years while I have lived around the corner from the restaurant. And my previous experiences eating only their cheese plates and wine were ok; however, I spent the worst evening last night visiting Bilbo's. The food that was not even subpar - it could not even be eaten. The veal scaloppini was like shoe-leather and cold; and my girlfriend 's salmon was cold and very old - the smell was overwhelming. When something was said to management regarding the food, their comment was "we have been really busy" and no offer was made to redo the order or credit us for not having eaten but one bite on each plate. I paid the bill and left to avoid a seen because to owner was becoming outraged - a very sick person with anger issues, or maybe was just having a bad day. Regardless, Bilbo's Baggins will never make it in Old Town with the new ownership, they know nothing about the restaurant business or what good customer service is supposed to be. I will NEVER return and I strongly suggest for you to stay away as well.
