09-15-14. We were excited to see the Countryside reopen. Yes the old version had issues that really needed attention - cleanliness being the biggest issue. However, it had charm, everyone knew each other and the bar and gaming area were semi private away from prying kids. And the ladies made great drinks!
Fast forward to tonight. Yes, the old carpet was in bad shape but it was ludicrous to replace it with stone tile. It was so gawd-awful LOUD in the place you couldn't hear yourself think. There was absolutely nothing in the new layout to help absorb the sound of the crying baby two tables away or the people all trying to talk louder than the next person because they figured you can't hear them so they must not be able to hear you.
You used to be able to get away from some of the noise by going into the bar area but not any more - the wall is gone and so are the lottery games.
And then the wait...and the wait.....and more waiting. We sat at the table at least 30 minutes and not one single employee even acknowledged our existence to at least let us know they would be with us as soon as they could. No menus, no eye contact, nothing.
Finally I got up and got menus for us. No one at the counter could even then, be bothered to make some sort of contact as I reached over the counter and grabbed them. I went back with the menus. New owners/managers, new look, and uh...same food. Ok yeah there were some real good things on the old menu; I had many favorites, but really? Didn't bring anything of your own to the table to surprise us with?
At one point I got up to go wash my hands in the men's room. All that money poorly spent on bad interior design out in the dining area but no one thought to do something about the same tired fluorescent lighting in the bathroom that makes everyone in there look like pale, dimly lit zombies?
Toward the end of our visit, one member of our party went to the counter to try to let the manager or one of the employees know that we were ready to order. That person stood there for at least 7 minutes without any employee bothering to see what they needed before coming back to the table and saying, "That's it - I'm through. Let's go."
We went up to Yukon Jacks where we were served great food in a very mellow atmosphere, rather quickly and with a smiling waitress. And the three of us ate nice, filling meals for less than $19 total (not counting the $4 tip I left.) You won't find that bargain at Countryside, especially since they raised the prices on everything. I guess they have to pay for that gawd-awful stone tile somehow.
Needless to say, with all the other decent dining establishments in Veneta these days, we won't be back to the Countryside anytime soon. What a HUGE disappointment.

Fist Day of new Opening
9-14-14 1:40PM I stopped by to see what the place looked like under new management. I walked in and the place looks good, not many people there only 3 tables occupied 3 people behind the counter one looked to be the cook, two others appeared to be waitresses. They all say me come in no one greeted me I stood there for a while with out getting any service and I walked out!!
I doubt that I will go back and I doubt that they will be open very long with that sort of service!

The interior is filthy dirty. The chairs are sticky,the place smells like an old cigarette butt and there are very heathy fly's on the steamy dirty windows. Should have a cleaning company take care of it. Oh dear then there is the potty room,don't know what kind of clap crap one could pick up there. Potty room is not accessible.

Service was slow at 4:15 pm on a Saturday. Food was burned (pizza). Got another raw. Will not go back. Filthy dirty,sticky,stinky. Carpet looks like diesel trucks get serviced on it. Had to have another customer kill a Bee and many flies cruising around the yummy breeding ground. If you want something you can't wash off go to c.s.p. veneta,oregon. P.s. don't judge food in oregon because of this place.
