Kate:
it sounds to me that they don't want you back either.
Respect a food establishment that has only 8 or 10 tables and is trying to make a living and support others. Customers who eat, drink, sit and talk while others are waiting do not respect the establishment. He closes at 8pm and really wanted to sit another hungry couple, so be considerate next time, and go to Starbucks and sit as long as you want to. They only have 6000 shops, and this guy has only one......

Let me explain the 1 star. It has nothing to do with the food. The food is quite simply, the best fried clams outside of Boston or Wollaston where I am from.
I've been to Bit of Boston a few times and have never had a complaint until this evening.
To be brief, we waited 40 mins to get a table. Hey, it was a Friday night. That is to be expected. What I NEVAH expected was to be asked to "talk" outside. Apparently we lingered a little bit too long finishing up our 2nd glass of wine. Now mind you we ordered dinner, ate dinner, and enjoyed the last few sips of our 2nd glass. We hadn't settled in. Let's face it, the atmosphere doesn't entice you! It was now 7:30. The restaurant closes at 8.
It was highly humilitating and embarrassing to be asked by the waitress to deliver a message from the owner that we talk outside.
The thing I'm most sorry about is that I'll miss the fried clams, however, I would never go back there. There is never an excuse for being that rude.
