Don't waste your time or money here. Something has to change, because this place is off...way off. The bad reviews are obviously just being disregarded by management because nothing is changing. This mentality solidifies the fact that East River only aspires to be a tourist trap and nothing more.
The unexpected surcharge at the end was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Our server was a sweetheart, but the food was just terrible. We had BBQ pork, Mac & cheese, Chicken tenders, Redneck rolls, Fried green tomatoes, Bushwackers, and Water .... sadly the best part was the Water. $80 later and we definitely feel ripped off. We won't be coming back. We're locals and the last time that we ate here was back in 2014.
East River Smokehouse is worse than bad. Sad to see such a great location fall victim to careless management.

ordered a prime rib sandwich takeout. got home, opened the box and between the sandwich bread was a 3 inch by 4 inch slab of pure fat! Ugly, distasteful, gross fat. Not even a trace of meat, just the slab of fat. Returned the sandwich to East River, showed the manager the sandwich, she refused to reimburse me. I guess she expected me and all customers to eat their fat without question! Got the owner's tel number. left several messages, no return call. Do not, repeat, DO NOT eat at this pig house! Your bbq will probably contain 99% fat.

best bbq I've ever eaten. The sauce is amazing and you get a lot of food for a reasonable amount of money.
