I don't often post reviews because I think the whole "we're all critics now" movement in the US has brought out the worst in many of us, turning some into little more than sophisticated tattle-tales. However, in this case--the case of my wife's and I just having returned from a lovely dining experience at ZZ and Simone's--I thought I should act on an impulse of goodwill.

Seated outside on a busy stretch of Lumpkin Street, we were surprised to find an agreeable ambiance thanks to ample umbrellage and a PA playing really nice, not-often-heard soul hits from the seventies. (Not the usual boomer rock.) Maddie, our server, was sincerely kind--and knowledgeable, in spite of her youthfulness, about all the wines about which we inquired, even offering samples of a few. I am not insinuating she's a lush; rather, it seemed she'd committed herself to knowing the menu so as to enlighten first-timers like us.

Because we limited ourselves to appetizers, I cannot speak to the quality of the entrees, but everything we ordered was fabulous, particularly the asparagus and the tuna crudo. Also, the focaccia was top-notch. I'd recommend making an early outdoor evening of it at this place while the weather is still bearable. Perhaps after we return (and we will) I'll post an addendum to this review, but for now it gets all my possible stars.
