05/12/2009 - Steve Decker
I was at the Green Derby this past Sunday - Mothers Day. I thought we would have a great time. Unfortunately it was terroble. One of the worst experiences I have ever had. They advertised a prime rib special yet they were 'out of it' at 5pm. They were also out of Salmon, Pork Chops, and Pork Medallions(the other special). My lady friend ordered the Yellow Fins Tuna since there was no Salmon. The portions were about a quarter inch thick, pan fried, over cooked, and dry. Tasted like cardboard.

I have been coming to the Green Derby since I was a child in 1958, I now live in Illinois and still make it a point to dine there at least once or twice with my mother who will be 90. It is one of her favorite restaurants as well as mine. The fried chicken is excellent, the cod and halibut wonderful, the Derby salad is my favorite salad and the potato puffs and hush puppies typical Southern fare. We are always welcomed as old friends even though we do not get to dine there as often. I highly recommend the Green Derby as a comfortable and homey restaurant with exceptional food.
