Paru's specializes in the cuisine of South India, where cooks typically use rich spices and aromatic herbs to transform intricate conjurations of vegetables, lentils, and rice into tasty meals that are as fulfilling as they are filling. Masala Dosa, Idli, Uppuma, and Sambar are the mainstays of a style of cooking with which all India, and now much of the rest of the world, has fallen in love. Paru's was first established in Washington, D.C., in 1975, and moved to California where our present location opened in March of 1979, and has been here on Sunset Boulevard ever since. As more and more people have become aware of the physical, social, spiritual, and environmental benefits of the vegetarian diet, Paru's has become somewhat of a landmark both to local vegetarians (as well as non-vegetarians who simply like the food!) and to visitors from abroad.
