While the food has always been excellent the prices have gone out of this world...the food does not warrant the prices...its good but not almost 20 dollars for a large pizza good

The star rating is not suitable for this. While the food is very good, the prices are WAAYYY off the charts. It's disheartening. The same meal at one of the local competitors establish was half the price and equal if not better than the meal we had. History or not history...that was the last time we go.

This is a eating establishment that has a history connected to Loring Air Force Base. Back in the late 1960's and early 1970's you could visit the Rendezvous for cold beer and a great pizza. Back then the tables had simple red and white checkered plastic table cloths, neon beer signs, lighting was dark but just right. The bar had stools for the patrons to sit on, and on the bar top were large bottles of pickled eggs and sausages. It had great atmosphere and character as while eating you would occasionaly have your table and cutlery vibrate fromt the thunderous sound of B-52 bombers taking off overhead fromt the base. I'm Canadian and I absolutely loved this place. Fast forward to summer of 2008. While on vacation from Calgary Alberta I took my wife of 24 years and my daughter age 19 and my son age 17 to the Rendezvous where we met family, some of who I hadn't seen for 15 years and we had dinner. The Rendeqvous did not disappoint. The place still has character, the beer was cold, the pizza was great. I took my family back again for a second dinner. One of the things I always liked about the Rendezvous back about 1970 is the toppings were substantial. When you ordered green pepper, they put slices of green pepper on the pizza, not like small little cubes of green pepper they put on franchise or chain pizza restaurants today. When you ordered toppings they did not scimp, they threw on the toppings in good portions and sizes. This last summer of 2008 I noticed that the toppings were again better than a chain store pizza place. My only comment, and this is not a complaint but just a comment, is that I love Michelob beer and they had the Michelob light beer and not the regular Michelob. I hope the folks in Caribou and Limestone Maine appreciate the eatery they have in their area, and I hope the owner of the Rendezvous tries to stay true to the history of the place. Considering all the years that the Rendezvous served the "fly boys" of Loring Air Force Base, I'm surprised that the Rendezvous doesn't take the lead in organizing an annual Loring Ari Force Base reunion.
