10/30/2018 - Daddy-O
I really wanted to like this place, could be a real comfort food central for me. The food was passable, I've had their gyros, pizza and a sub over time. As a lifetime connoisseur of those foods, Pizza Boli's entrees and sides all place in the middle of the bottom half of the places where I've eaten, and worked. There is nothing distinctive positively and each entree had something I didn't appreciate, maybe the bread crust was soft not flaky, the sauce was too thin, the meat was too dry. It's like a bachelor decided to open a fast food deli and figured he could get everything delivered "heat-and-serve."
But it was when I got the sub the other day that I remembered why I swore the place off:
They wrap the sandwich (sub or gyro) in aluminum foil and then cut it.
Imagine a dull, or worse, a serrated knife sawing through aluminum foil.
All those little flakes of aluminum foil embedded in the sandwich.
Do a search for "aluminum and alzheimers"
Sure, eating pizza, gyros and subs regularly probably does more damage than the occasional flake of aluminum, it probably just passes through, but nah, no thanks.
