Mmmm.... Yeah, only 3-star here. This is a tough one. I love the variety this place brings to an area like the UP of Michigan. Has a great atmosphere, but long waits after ordering and painfully average Italian and fish fry. Other places in the immediate area are better in all three of those issues.

Not bad

I ordered the medley of pasta, ravioli, spaghetti, cannelloni. The pasta all tasted the same, the red sauce was absolutely the worst I've ever had, no taste whatsoever, no seasoning at all. I think they used some old ketchup mixed with some thickening agent. I can't believe any restaurant would serve that kind of food. The meat in the Ravioli tasted like dog food. I cook my own spaghetti sauce all day long mixed into a large container, let it simmer, with chopped onions, mushrooms , cubed tomatoes, seasoning, etc. The people they cater to are very old, I never seen any young people in the restaurant. It all comes down to what you are used to. If your old and never tasted any thing other than the chow line in the military, then this place is for you. If you traveled the world over, and dined in the best cuisine restaurants, then stay away from this place. I got hoodwinked by ill advice from the locals, should ah known better, try T & T, their dynamite compared to the shanty style of Romagnoli's.

Food was excellent and atmosphere was nice. Service was marginal. I felt embarrassed for all the staff who waited on us. We had 3 servers and it seemed like none of them were communicating. None of the 3 checked back on us after our food was delivered. When they did, I ordered another glass of wine and my husband asked for more water since he had finished his beer and his water glass was empty. When my wine finally came, the server said to my husband, "was I supposed to bring you another beer?" We felt like we were in a local bar. We were embarrassed for all of them. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly. Not to be snobby, but it was like we were at the local watering hole.

We were up visiting my boyfriends parents and they took us here for dinner. We were treated so badly I would never go back here again. We were told that it would be a 30 minute wait. We were sitting in the bar waiting and witnessed many people who came in after us that knew the owner(he greeted them by name and hugged them) walk in and get a seat right away. After waiting for an hour they came in the bar and took our order. When we finally made it into the dining room there were numerous empty tables just waiting to be seated. Our salads were at the table, I had asked for Italian dressing, and it tasted like water, and the lettuce looked like it had sat in the water all day. The mushrooms that we got with our steak that were supposed to be sauteed tasted like they had just come out of a can. I feel like the owner should find a job more suited to his abilities because running a restaurant is not his forte. I will never go back to this restaurant again, I feel that they have terrible customer service and the food is way overpriced for what you get.

We have lived, worked, and vacationed in Iron Mt., and eaten at Romagnoli's over and over again. Their Italian cuisine is the best by far of any other restaurant in the area. The red gravy is superb and the pasta cooked to perfection. I wouldn't go anywhere else in Iron Mt.

Anyone visiting the Iron Mountain Kingsford area will do themselves a huge favor and avoid Romagnolis. Please go to the T&T as it is one of the better restaurants in the area and the steaks are right up there with Mannys here in Minneapolis.

After 25 years of living in minneapolis and having grown up in Iron Mountain we visited to have a fine dining experience this past weekend at Romagnolis. One can choose to operate their restaurant as they see fit and we as the consumer can choose to spend our money where we feel we are being treated as customers. After 5 minutes of waiting to be acknowledged in an uncrowded environment we were seated at the bar and provided menus. Now, to me, a fine dining experience is to be seated at your table and then order, but we played along and ordered drinks at the bar first. After ordering a glass of horribly old tasting wine and being told more rules (Not being allowed to split entrees (We were not that hungry) we decided that it would be best to have a delivery pizza at our hotel rather than being treated poorly at Romagnolis. Glad this business model works for the owner and running his restaurant like the Gastepo, but what a horrible, horrible customer service experience. Too many rules and guidelines to live within for a "Fine" dining experience. I'd recommend mr big hot shot owner visit a restaurant in a larger city to see how they handle their customers. He might find his revenue numbers to double. Applebees has got him beat in service and a fine dining experience at this point. Do yourselves a favor and go to the T & T. Know that the owner of Romagnolis has a reputation and that trickles down to his staff that waits on you. Poor service.Andrea

I had the worst dining experience of my life at Romagnali's. Although the food is good, the owner is the most belligerent, obnoxious and nasty individual I have ever encountered in the food service industry. 5 of us went out to eat, my husband and teenage son, plus a friend and his teenage son. We went all out to order a nice meal. I was not particularly hungry, and ordered a dinner salad. When my husbands meal came, I asked to take a taste. I did not even get the fork to my mouth, when the owner came running over to the table confronting me, saying I did not pay for an extra plate and could not touch the food. I have never been so humiliated or felt so threatened. I went to talk to him and he proceeded to yell at me in front of the entire restaurant, saying how I was cheating him. At that point I returned to my seat and requested a check. My bill was over $100 before the tip. I left a 35% tip because I felt so sorry for the waitress. I can't imagine working for such a miserable human being. The next day, multiple friends shared that they had experienced similar abuse from this business owner.
