My husband and I stopped by Garvin Heights Vineyard overnight during a Wine Tour I arranged for my wife's birthday weekend, based on a recommendation from Harvest Host. Despite arriving close to closing time, we were greeted warmly and had a lovely time sampling the wines on the back deck. While the wine was good, it didn't quite match up to some Napa wines we've had in the past. The setting was stunning, with beautiful views that my husband, who had never been to Minnesota before, particularly enjoyed. The couple running the tasting were friendly and knowledgeable, and we ended up purchasing two bottles to take home. The cost of the wine tasting was reasonable at $5 for 5 wines, and the forgiving of the tasting fee with a bottle purchase was a nice touch. The only downside was feeling ill after trying some food from a local dairy farm, which unfortunately put a damper on an otherwise enjoyable visit. Overall, Garvin Heights Vineyard is a great stop for wine lovers and those looking for a peaceful retreat in Winona, Minnesota.
