The Chinese restaurant in Lucedale offers large portions, allowing me to customize my shrimp fried rice with extra shrimp or egg. It is the only Chinese option in town, conveniently located in the heart of downtown. While the buffet is small and lacks strong flavors in dishes like fried rice and lo mein, it caters to a mix of generations and offers a quick and budget-friendly meal option.

I have frequented this restaurant for a number of years, but have always stuck to their buffet. Tonight, I ventured away from that, and placed an order for Pork Egg Foo Young. In doing so, I discovered a well kept Lucedale secret- the chef in this restaurant is a master of his craft. It was absolutely the best I have ever tasted. The sauce was a highly spiced, concoction of ginger, garlic, and whatever else he had up his sleeve. It was dark, rich and fresh. The Foo Young came in three patties,(plenty for two very hungry, or three moderately hungry people) full of veggies, big, delicious chunks of pork, all held together by a pleasantly spiced egg mixture. From now on, I'll be ordering from the full menu. Not that the buffet isn't good, it is. I guess I'm just ready for some more culinary adventure hosted by this chef.
