Since moving from Brooklyn to central Jersey, finding a real NY-style slice has been tough until I discovered Rome. The pizza reminds me of home with its fresh, delicious crust, tasty sauce, and just-right cheese, plus the calzones are incredible-freshly made and big enough to share. It's a simple, old-school spot run by a friendly family who clearly put care into every pie, and though it's cash only, the pizza more than makes up for that little hassle.

Moving from Brooklyn to central Jersey, I struggled to find a pizza that compared to a true NY slice until I discovered Rome Pizza, which reminded me of home with its taste, atmosphere, and cash-only policy. Although I've only tried their plain pizza, it's so delicious that I can't bring myself to order anything else. Rome Pizza in Dunellen is a must-visit for the best NY slice in NJ, with a unique calzone that's freshly made to order and worth making a return trip for.
