The cellar cafe is an off the beaten path hidden location that is well deserving of a visit. It is located right across from Newark Penn Station and across the street from Gateway 1. It's set behind a fence that makes it a bit difficult to find.
When I entered I was graciously greeted by one of the owners who allowed me to peruse the menu while suggesting a few options. After placing my order for a cheesesteak and fries, I was instructed to take a seat and got to relax under the skylit ceiling. After 5 minutes or so my food was brought to my table and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the speed of service, not to mention the price. Cellar Cafe is a nice find with quick service and good eats. A repeat appearance is in the cards.
