I have been stewing about this since Christmas. Spragues advertised breakfast with Santa, petting reindeer, a real nice family event for kids this past December. I have two grandchildren, under 5. They live about 90 miles away and suggested this event to them on Christmas Eve day. They were so excited. Drove all the way here, early in the morning, to participate. I had called Spragues to make reservations and was told they don't take reservations. Okay. We show up Christmas Eve morning with my grandkids. It was a cold, drizzly, miserable day and the wait line was right out to the parking lot"¦which we stood in this miserable weather for at least 15 min until we finally got under the roof. The line was moving like a snail. PLUS time and time again we watched countless people come in ahead of us and move into line because they had friends or family members holding spots for them! Are you kidding me? After waiting over 45 minutes to move 15 feet, and with the kids getting antsy and we're all starving, we ditched the idea and left ! Why on frickin earth would you advertise something like this..a SPECIAL event and NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS??!! Talk about a total inconvenience and totally taking advantage of your customers!! What a disappointment for all of us. I noticed at Easter time they advertised an Easter egg hunt"¦1200 eggs"¦prizes"¦.again"¦no reservations!! Who are the geniuses managing this place!! I have always liked Spragues but this is just a total lack of common sense and fairness. I have no desire to even give them the time of day since they ruined this sabotage of an experience for my grandkids. And BTW we ended up going to the Beef and Barrel in Olean, had a totally wonderful breakfast and were treated with such holiday spirit"¦.unfortubately it was nothing special for my little grandkids, but it saved the day. So"¦"¦.WISE UP Spragues. Have some respect & consideration for people and take reservations
your special events. It's the right thing to do.

The food was good but the service was terrible. I've owned restaurants for twenty years and know how important customer service is. I love this restaurant and drove 45 min for dinner, it's usually a great experience. Tonight was ruined by McKenzie, she did not not even have the decency to say hello to us. She never cracked a smile and was extremely impatient with us. She literally said what would you like to each one of us and walked away. No refills, no clearing dirty dishes, no napkins but again the worst was no personality or smile. She didn't offer us dessert and when we asked she was irritated and asked if we wanted it to go. I could go on but I think you get the picture here, she is not representing your family business well at all. It was very disappointing and didn't feel good yo pay $166 bill after that service. I called and spoke to Steve after we paid because I didn't want to cause tension with my kids there, he was nice but just giving me lip service. I'm hoping this gets to the owners who I think care a lot about this business. I always told my mgrs, always ask for the customers info so they know you care. He never asked for my name or phone number just another sign of lack of caring.

Spragues is one of my favorite restaurants! Their food is absolutely amazing! Great and friendly service! Whenever we have money we would go there and go on our anniversary! If you love biscuits and gravy you will love their sausage gravy and biscuits with home fries
