I guess they figured out that they were the worst place to eat in town. They left under cover of darkness leaving only notes from vendors and creditors on the door.

The only place I will eat when I am in western NC is the Nutmeg. The place is clean, the food is wonderful, and the service is great. Extreme hospitality. The review from "foodcritic" must have been written by someone with a personal problem with Nutmeg because I grew up in NY and the bagels at Nutmeg are exactly like NY Bagels...probably because they are made by someone that also grew up in NY. Great prices, great food, great people... who could ask for more?

Just terrible, the "NY style" bagles look like puffed up muffins, doughnuts were stale and tasted like the storebought kind, service for luch was extremly slow even though we were just about the only people there.

This place is great. I have no idea why anyone would rate it anything other than great. They have consistently great food and the service is great. They did have a problem with one particular waitress that was not professional that they fired and I think that must be the only person that would write a bad review of this place. Anyone that has ever eaten there will know and agree that this place is the best by far in Maggie Valley- no comparison.
