This is THE PLACE in NYC that is truly a hidden secret. What fabulous cuisine which is both Hungarian, and truly so, plus Italian. Caterina's is the ONLY Hungarian Restaurant in the entire city of New York - An extra added plus is the the wonderful entertainment - especially on the weekends when Jerry Scott is on the piano and so many professional entertainers come to join with him. Call and make YOUR reservation for a wonderful evening of fine food and entertainment. Nowhere in this big city will you find a FIND like Caterina's. We LOVE this place and Caterina as well.

Caterina's is the place we go to when we want to go out for the evening, have a marvelous meal, great drinks and the best of times. Caterina's has live piano music nightly and on Friday and Saturday evening Jerry Scott is on the piano. Many marvelous singers come in to join with him. I recommend Caterina's highly for a wonderful New York evening.

A great 'little restaurant around the corner'. The kind of place that makes a neighborhood home. High quality hungarian and italian food at reasonable prices. Piano entertainment mon-sat. Friendly locals gather at the bar. Hosts are Caterina and Tommy.

the woman who owns and runs this place is a nightmare..i rather feel like an inmate than a customer when i am there..she is rude, unpleasant and definitely makes your dining experience feel like youre in a prison camp and she is the head hancho..i go to hear jerry..i phoned a friend to ilast night as i hadn't been there in awhile..but he said he refuses to go there because of this woman..what is her problem..she's a real nasty wench..

What a great place to feel at home!!! Caterina brings back the feeling and ambiance of your own Mom. If you ask she will personally advise on every course
...and make sure you eat it all!!! The food selection and preparation is superb. The service is personal, polite yet not intrusive.. The music is wonderful and adds that something "extra' to the dining experience. Just the way dining out in NYC should be.

On each of our many trips to New York from Brentwood, Tennessee - our #1 stop is at Caterina's Restaurant for the food and atmosphere and friendship we experience while we are there. It is always the highlight of our visits !!

What a jewel of a restaurant. We have enjoyed the most marvelous evenings at this lovely east side restaurant. The food is excellent - the extensive Hungarian and Italian menu is so pleasing. They have piano music nightly and a special treat every Friday & Saturday, Mr. Jerry Scott on the piano entertaining in grand style.
The atmosphere is truly romantic - the drinks are excellent and your hosts, Caterina and Tom are top notch folks. Highly recommended

We chose Caterina's because of other reviews online that said how friendly the owners and staff were, as well as how wonderful the food was. Well, I went last weekend with my husband (we are both Hungarian) with high expectations. The food was good, but it was certainly NOT any better then the meals I prepare at home. Honestly, my Chicken Paprikash is much better. Plus the owner, Caterina, was extremely rude in my opinion. The other servers were okay, but not one of them ever even stopped by to ask if our food was okay or if we'd like another drink. We were just sort of rushed through the entire process of eating. Also, we were promised live music when I made our reservation and there was none. If you are not Hungarian and don't have the ability to cook that way at home, then fine, but if you are you will most likely be very disappointed. This is NOT grandma's cooking!

This is like an old New York city place that no longer exists. You can have a marvelous evening with wonderful food, great entertainment. Kelly Briggs is a true professional and has a mervelous voice. Many other come in and sing a tune as well. There is a lovely woman named "Helen" who is from Montreal and she also has a lovely professional voice. Great fun, great drinks and food and Caterina is sensational as well as Tommy.
Don't miss this place for a great evening out.

This is what is missing in NYC. There used to be many places like this before banks and drug stores took over. The food is like going to a relatives house for home cooking. The service is great. They make you feel so welcome. Then there is the entertainment. I have been there many times and the entertainment is tops. Great piano players and on Sundays a Gypsy Trio. Kelly is one of the staff who sings Broadway tunes. Your value for great food, entertainment, service and don't forget an amazing cocktail. You would have to buy 2 drinks anywhere else for the one you get here. Like I said, I go there often and love this place. Check it out for yourself. Also gets a great mix of clientele.
