When I visited this Puerto Rican eatery in New York, I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and cozy atmosphere. The owner, who I believe is named Daniel according to an online article, was friendly and welcoming. The crispy roast pork belly and flavorful rice and beans left a lasting impression on me, and I can't wait to return for more authentic Puerto Rican cuisine.

Visited Lechonera La isla on Saturday. I was charged $13 for a plate of rice beans and pernil. Was told the regular price was $12 but since I was using a debit card there was a $1 subcharge. By the way this information is not displayed or posted for customers to see. The food was totally bland and without taste. The pernil was dry and even the cuero or crispy skin which is the best part was totally inedible. NOT WORTH THE MONEY . WILL NOT RETURN...
