The Captain's Choice is a great spot for a delicious lunch, especially their clam chowder and fish dishes. The service was excellent, even with just a few staff members working efficiently. I left feeling satisfied and pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service.

There is an expectation that when u sit down to a meal in a restaurant that the food will satisfy, you'll push away from the table and say damn that was good...im sorry but I just can't say that about our meals. There were 4 of us. Our friends ordered raw oysters as an appetizer . They wouldn't eat them. The oysters were mushy and just to be fair, we tried them. Immediately spit it out. Our female friend and my husband had clams and chowder. The clams were good, the chowder..so so..our male friend had a meal that came w mac and cheese..the m/c was embarrassing. Possibly from a box. I had breaded razor clams. No flavor..absolutely no taste...ive had them before ( not at this restaurant) and they were to die for. Chef..you need to do better ..owners. you need to do better..

I'm in total agreement with Randy. I had the fresh local fried red snapper and local fresh fried oysters, a baked potato, and really fresh grilled zucchini and my dining partner had the Big Dipper Burger (plain and dry with only meat, cheddar cheese and bun) and the mac & cheese. He stated the mac & cheese wasn't bad but barely tasted better than the out of the box version but he really enjoyed it. Service was friendly especially considering that we went in near closing time. The only real area I see lacking is their salad bar. It seemed a bit less fresh so we opted to not have any. Other diners, however, were taking several trips through the salad bar. As a vegetable lover, I'm a bit picky but the wonderful seafood and burger far outweighed any negative the salad bar brought. Its worth a stop in and the views won't disappoint, either.

Can't go to Coos Bay without a stop at Captains Choice. Chowder is great as well as the cod fish & chips
( grilled and lightly battered ), ginger shrimp and also the steamer clams. Go in hungry and come out satisfied.

Fresh seafood cooked the way you want it. Great salad bar too!
