Have been visiting Ritters since I was in college in the 50's, when it was across the street from the present location. In everything that counts, it doesn't seem ever to change. Huge menu of comfort food, jukebox outlet at your booth. What's not to like? In August, my family treated me to a Ritters lunch--with comfortable food and comfortable companions--the day before my eightieth birthday celebration at a somewhat fancier but no more festive location.

My husband and I have been coming to Ritter's Diner for many years now. Over 54 years now and we just love it The prices are good and the food delicious ! We travel about 15 miles to get here and it is really worth every mile.I also love the old fashioned juke boxes at each booth. ( Remember your quarters ! ) They have old fashioned food like meatloaf, stuffed green peppers, stuffed cabbage, fried green tomatoes, and breaded veal
cutlet just to name a few ! Ritter's Diner is a fun and happy place. We love it here.

Great diner food and service and the last of its kind! I wish more places existed like Ritters!

Ritter's is great. This moron doesn't even know proper English or grammar. Go through the McDonald's drive-thru where all trash belong, cheap -ss. While you're at it, go back to 2nd grade to learn some basic grammar and spelling.

I am so sorry that we stopped at Ritter‘s Diner on baum Boulevard in east Pittsburgh Area.. We have never experienced such horrible food (very expensive compared to competition) service from KITCHEN STAFF, not our server & I cannot believe how those women (servers) are treated down there. We were in shock. We usually go to Eat n Park on the weekends, but we were in Pittsburgh for a conference and decided to stop at Ritter's s, I had not been there since I was a child and was reminded why it was that long. Before I start let me just tell you at Eat npark, we pay about $13.00 +4.50 tip, for our breakfast and coffee (the 2.89 special 2 eggs ANY STYLE, choice of 1 bacon, sausage or ham, choice of potato or juice & toast or bagel/muffin (hash browns, home fries or o.j.) so you know. We got there and didn't seem to be to busy we waited less than 5 minutes for a seat. Our server greeted us bought us water, we got coffee (must say that was excellent) then as she is taking our order we hear a scream from the kitchen, I think Janet was her name, come on lets go, pick it up NOW with a curse word to follow and childish tantrum SCREAMING, We were in shock I know it‘s a diner but you can be a little more professional can‘t you? , Another server went over and picked her food up, (she had walked by and told her she would) we felt bad cause we were asking questions cause my husband wanted to get cheese on his scrambled eggs, now if you order cheese on your eggs (trust me folks we have dined all over the united states and have never been charged this way) they charge you everything ala carte instead of just adding the freaking .50 cents. So you pay for 2 egg omlette (which all are only 2 eggs) and toast. (if you add a bagel or English muffin add, another $1.20 yes, unbelievable huh? Then you pay for your meat and potatoes separate too. Only place in America that does that Then they also charged us EXTRA for the bagel that I ordered with my breakfast. ($1.20) YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT. And I didn’t get cheese. I usually get poached eggs but they wanted to charge me ala carte cause poched, hard and soft boil are difficult to make.. Isn’t that your speciality? No one ripping customers off and nickel and diming the heck out of us, I meant cooking eggs. Can you believe that? So for everything the same that we would of had at eat n park we paid almost 3 times as much. I must add it was no better at all either. The abuse the servers took didn’t make it any more enjoyable either. Ridicules huh? They claim that if you add cheese to 2 eggs it is an omelet. Wow 2 eggs for an omlette I thought everywhere made 3 egg omelets. Also, they ARE FORCED TO CONDENSE KETCHUP, that is a health department violation and I will be notifying them. There is nothing more disgusting then marrying ketchup. That is what the owner calls it, when I told her as she was doing it right up front so they whole diner can see that is a health department violation she says, “yeah”. Oh my they will hear from me,. Since we felt there philosophy on how to charge is on Mars we did some investigating and Ritters is the only DINER/PLACE in Pittsburgh that charges you ala carte for cheese on your eggs. How greedy can one get? That is an American Tradition as feta and olives are to Greeks. Then back to the kitchen staff my husband was so angry to hear them servers being yelled at like that, servers said that was nothing compared to usual. If they are that hard up for my money and need to charge that much for cheese then why not just close? I promise we won’t ever return. I PRAY THEM SERVERS FIND BETTER WORK NO ONE MAN OR WOMAN DESERVES TO BE TREATED LIKE THAT. NO ONE. I wonder if they treat the woman in their families the same way? I had to rate 1-5 stars I would of preferred to give JUST a half star (for the coffee) but 1 is the lowest you can rate so they got extra points.
