10/09/2021 - Ben Anglin
My first experience with the wonderful tasting food of Karam's was in early Sept. of 1960. Had just taken a teaching job at Rhodes Junior School down on Tampico Street, & my principal took us new teachers to Karam's for lunch just before the school year began. He suggested Karam's enchilada dinner. Being from not far from the Red River in Northeast Texas, I knew nothing about Mexican food. Well the fool was "out of this World" delicious, except I didn't know what the little plate of green stuff was. Tasted it & didn't like it. Gave it to my principal & he ate his and mine. Finally, after several trips back to wonderful Karam's, I discovered how to make Guacamole salad taste good to me. I found that it only needed a little salt & pepper to make is great! For the next 9 years that I lived in S. A., I went to Karam's at least once a week for dinner. Was so disappointed that it closed. There will never be another as great as Karam's.
