10/09/2017 - NMGAL
We have for many years when visiting Santa Fe, dined at the St. Francis Hotel, leaving us with dozens of wonderful memories. Our recent visit was a tremendous disappointment.
The food was horrible, the service slow, but the most offensive part of our visit was the rude host that greeted us upon our arrival. He initially told us that the restaurant was now "reservation only" and at 6:45 PM, though the restaurant was clearly almost empty less an occupied table or two, he could not seat us. He then added that they were closing early at 7:30 PM. Upon checking with the hotel reservation clerk, who seemed shocked by this information, we were finally seated.
While the server was indeed apologetic and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable, the food was slow to prepare, the pork chops were bland and the accompanying potatoes were saturated with vinegar. The ravioli entree was as well poorly prepared. We since have learned that the restaurant is under new management. All good things come to an end, sadly. With so many excellent restaurants in Santa Fe, we have now crossed this one off of our list.
