02/22/2011 - Nate Wize
Well I just moved to the tiny town of Barnwell and I was excited to see what looked to be an upscale establishment in such a small town. When I was first sat, it took nearly 10 minutes for the server to finally greet me and my friends. After we placed our order it took over an hour for the food to finally arrive. Everyone at my table ordered a steak, which were all supposed to be cooked at different temperatures. But when my filet mignon arrived (which was supposed to be 8oz and cooked medium rare) it looked like a burnt mangled hockey puck and was clearly not 8oz. More like 4oz. Everyone else's steak was beyond well done also. When we talked to the manager he barely cared and the server showed no care for quality service either. I took a peak in the kitchen and every line cook looked like they were fresh out of the penitentiary. Nobody was wearing a uniform not even the executive chef (if you could even call this clown a chef) Overall the service was terrible, the food was horrible, and just not a pleasant experience at all. I also talked to Vince, the owner as well that night and he didn't express much remorse his staffs' screw-ups either. Apparently since myself and my friends are "foreigners" and weren't born in Barnwell we get treated differently than other patrons. Born in Barnwell or not, I would not recommend Vince's to anyone.

We have been in Vince's many times at both locations. The service has always been great and the food, um, delicious!
We enjoy the new location for several reasons, easier and more parking, and the atmosphere. The larger rooms and many rooms in addition to the view of the lake, especially at night, we have found very pleasing!
Other than missing a salad bar a few times, we have no reason at all not to be very satisfied. The prices are reasonable; the place is always clean and smells great! It is difficult picking our favorite entree and appetizers.
We totally recommend Vince's, lunch, brunch and dinner.

I have tried Vince's a total of five times, two at the old Main St location and three at the lakeside address. The food is reasonably priced, however, it seemed to be of better taste and quality at the old restaurant... I don't know if the chefs have changed or if they began ordering the lower grade foodstuffs from their supplier, but there is definitely a perceivable difference.
The service is exactly the same as the old location, utterly dreadful. We had issues each time we visited and they ran the entire gamut of well-known server faux pas; waiting tens of minutes for drinks, bringing the wrong beer, entrees delivered before appetizers, entrees delivered with no silverware at the table, not checking to see if we needed condiments, etcetera.
It is really a shame that such decent food and a wonderful new atmosphere with great decor is marred by such lousy servers and bartenders. I know it may be difficult to find great help these days, but it seems that anyone with a little training or experience in a proper restaurant would be a major upgrade.
I doubt we will be visiting Vince's too often in the future unless the staff can tighten things up quite a bit. It is worth the drive out of town for us to be able to enjoy our meals without frustration.

My friend and I went to Vince's in Barnwell a few weeks ago and were very pleased with the service, accuracy, and speed. Our waitress was Courtney Babb, a local favorite, she waited on us many times at Winton Inn and her personality and concern for our satisfaction is always pleasant. Although her first few days working their she was thrown in without learning the ways of the restaurant or the menu, she was very helpful. If we had a question she didn't know, she was quick to get an answer. My family and friends and I will be back soon! Everyone should try this place out. It is a great environment for socialization and family time.

This is a nice place to go as a family. There is a sectioned off, but we have never been in that section. The servers seem a little inexperienced, but they are very nice and helpful Prices are reasonable. The exterior is not the best representation of the inside. It is very nice and spacious. They have a great variety of burgers to steaks and some seafood. I have had a steak and a burger and both were great! We plan on calling in our order tonight!

I and my companion were very enthusiastic about finding a nice steakhouse that had a full bar in the little town of Barnwell. On our first visit we enjoyed the quality and serving size of the food but were put off by the low-quality coffee and the fact that the waitress wouldn't let us pay our bill tableside. I wrote a letter to Vince with the suggestion that he serve a superior grade of coffee to go with his excellent desserts and that his servers process the bill at the table. He made those changes on our second visit, and we enjoyed both the excellent prime rib and his conversation. Our third and fourth visits were very satisfying, and we got to know two servers, Jennifer and Tanya, quite well. We also learned that we could order wine by the bottle. We believed that this was our community restaurant, and we made every indication that we wanted to be regulars of Vince's establishment. We were in for a nasty surprise. On our fifth and final visit, we ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, fried shrimp appetizer, two dinner salads, prime rib and dessert. We expressly told Tanya that we wanted real horseradish when she brought our main course. Sadly, she failed to bring the requested horseradish, so I informed Jennifer, who had had a nice chat with us earlier that same night. As we began consuming our main course, Vince emerged from the kitchen and made straight for our table. He demanded to know, "Do you have a problem with my waitresses? You know, they have other customers to wait on beside you." I reassured him that I did not have a problem. My companion and I sat stunned as we watched him march back to the kitchen. Tanya returned and told us we could only have one bottle of wine, that Vince didn't like our using the unisex bathroom at the same time and that nobody wanted to wait on us. We boxed our food and left. Vince's will reopen at a new location. Watch out! If you want to relax and enjoy yourself, then go elsewhere. Really!
