One of my top picks for soulful dining experiences nearby, this restaurant never disappoints with its delectable offerings like cabbage and jalapeno cornbread. The warm and welcoming owners add a personal touch to every visit, making each meal feel special and unique. Although it's a shame they're closed on weekends, their catering service ensures you can enjoy their delicious fare any day of the week.

I always get gr8 service and the food is always off the chain!! I am never dissatisfied.The people have such humble spirit and nice attitudes. I like going there!! As a matter of fact, I look forward to it..

the food is delicious, the service is great. they always have a variety of different desserts. if u haven't been there, I suggest u try it. u wont be disappointed. these are great down home folks, and they treat u as family.

Down home has some delicious food! Omg! You have too try some of my favorites bbq and the fish plus the side dish on friday's . They have the best homemade lemonade, banana pudding and the fried chocolate fudge brownies Ummmm!!!! The best in town!

To start, I don't give 10's on principle.
We grew up down south but now live in New Jersey and have been in Lee County assisting ailing parents.
They featuer some of the best southern style cooking I've ever had. Each dish seemed singularly seasoned.
On ofurfirst trip, we've been back several times, the owners gave us sampling platters for a most enjoyable and extensive taste experience.
This brother and sister team (with her son in the kitchen) provide value, quality and variety. They are ONLY open 11am to 2pm Monday through Friday. They said they shop for what's available on M to W and offer a mostly set menu on Thr and Fri. I believe I got it straight that they feature ribs and hamburger steak on Thr and catfish on Friday.
There are always good desserts available as well.
Great food, good prices, do not waste your money at a chain buffet. Go to Down Home Cooking in Verona!
