Hey,my soup was awesome! I wish I could remember the name of it, it was the squash soup. It was very creamy with pieces of squash in it. Very filling and refreshing. This was in August 2009, We left Jacksonville Beach,Fl to ride on motorcyles to the grand canyon then decided to ride HWY 12. We found the Burr Trail Grill, thankfully, in the middle of no-where. The burgers, made with local beef, were wonderful as well. I have sent an e-mail to the Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives to go there as well. It is well worth the trip down Hwy 12.would love to have the recipe for the squash soup.

My wife, son and I stumbled upon the Burr Trail Grill while travelling and had luch there. The server was very personable and professional. We ordered an appetizer, two cheeseburgers and a kids plate, with drinks (two iced teas and a juice). Our server asked if we would like to try the local beef for our burgers instead of the regular beef. We agreed, glad to support the local ranchers.
Our appetizer was a gorgonzola puff pastry with asparagus and was delicious. The burgers came out and were very good. They were grilled to well-done (I prefer medium) but nonetheless very tasty. The presentaiton was very good as well. We added three cookies to the order for the road, when finished with our dinner.
The surprise came when we recieved the bill. For the food and drinks, we were charged $57.00! By choosing the local beef our burgers increased in price from $8 to $14.50 - and the server made no mention of it. I cannot recall that this upcharge was listed on the menu. The appetizer that was listed at $5 on the menu was billed at $10. I asked the server to clarify this and she stated that things add up - especially witht he upcharge for the local beef.
In my opinion the food was great, but the restaurant is desogned to fleece tourists as they pass through. If you stop bee sure to verify all potential charges up front.
