08/09/2009 - Seymore Phillips
This quaint town of Clifton needs to learn how to keep hush-hush. As out-of-towners we were surprised it only took us half and hour to learn that the inebriated brunette accusing the young blond of sleeping with her husband was in fact the owner of the Heart-in-Hand restaurant. We were shocked to learn how open the locals were in their belief that financial & social status is everything. I understand that a bar can be a place where people go to drink away their emotions and use the bar tender as their own personal psychologists, but we would have expected more decorum from the owner of the establishment. We also did not expect the private lives of the residents to be such an open book. Charles and I only wanted to sit down and enjoy a quite drink at a country side bar. We were unaware it came with a floor show, narrated by the locals, their script based upon their hazardous lifestyles. The discomfort we felt ensured that we will not return to this not-so-quaint town. Clifton is definitely no Mayberry.
