Ive been a regular customer of Stars for about 8 years now I have been going almost every week. I had never had a bad experience there and have had only wonderful things to say... until today. After today's experience I will never go again.
The food is great but the new female cashier is the rudest person I've ever met.
Went in today with my boyfriend, who is Deaf. We've gone in several times before and we are usually recognized by the workers. We placed our orders then went to eat in our car (damn coronavirus) but when we got to the car we noticed my boyfriends sandwich was wrong. We went back inside and I explained to the woman that I ordered lox on his sandwich (and we paid the price for it too!) She started giving me a hard time about my order not being clear, but I was firm that I knew I had ordered correctly (the last time we were there there was a bit of confusion about what kind of lox, so I made sure to order exactly what I wanted this time). The cook interrupted and after looking at the order receipt, said it was his mistake, that he forgot to add the lox, and he would remake it right away. I said it was completely fine, as I've known this guy for years and everyone at Stars has always been wonderful. Seriously, it was some forgotten lox... no big deal! As i was interpreting this in American Sign Language to provide accessibility for my boyfriend, WHO IS DEAF, the woman interrupted us and said "you don't have to use that hand gesture. I know what it means and you don't have to use that gesture" to which I responded "Excuse me? Im communicating with my boyfriend who is Deaf" and she said "well you didn't have to use that hand gesture, I know what it means" and she said that I made air quotes. This really made me confused and upset because I was literally explaining the situation to my boyfriend, and how dare she insult us and our language. I don't know what she was referring to, but it was obvious my boyfriend and I were signing to each other like we always do, and not making inappropriate hand gestures at her. I shouldn't have done this, but I was upset and said "what the hell is wrong with you? I don't know what you're talking about but I'm talking to my boyfriend. Im a regular customer and I know these guys forever, I never had a problem that he messed up the order" and even the cooks backed me up that obviously I was communicating in ASL and not making rude or inappropriate hand gestures, like she was implying. She then proceeded to insult me in Spanish to the cooks, obviously not knowing that I also speak Spanish fluently. After responding to her (in Spanish) that I speak spanish too, she made a snarky comment that "she literally didn't care" and she could speak English or Spanish or whatever she wanted. I ignored these comments, thanked the cook immensely for remaking the sandwich, and left.
Seriously, the food is great and the cooks are great guys too, but I can't believe that as regular customers, myself and my boyfriend were treated this way. I don't even care that she insulted me personally, but this was an insult to the Deaf community at large. Totally disgusted with the ignorance on her part. Something should be done about this.

Slow service, make many mistakes, randomly closed, extremely hard to place order by phone because the phone rings until it goes to message requesting access password.
