Sadly, Rella's Cafe burned down and Rella decided to finally retire. I think I speak for the hundreds of ADV motorcyclists who gathered at her diner for unbelievable home-made pies and home-cooked meals served with Great-Grandmother's love, that we will miss riding hundreds of miles to see her. Enjoy your retirement, Rella!

GREAT FOOD NO MATTER WHAT YOU ORDER, NOT FANCY BUT VERY CLEAN AND NEAT.
RELLA IS ALWAYS HAPPY TO SERVE AND IS VERY FRIENDLY. THE PIES ARE FANTASTIC!

Somehow my review was shortened to just the first sentence, so I will re-post: Rella's Diner is a unique WV dining experience. With that in mind, realize if you are looking for fancy 1st-class accommodations you will be disappointed. I myself drove by many times before I knew about Rella. Rella is a feisty firecracker of a Great-Grandma who loves to make home-cooked meals for friends. And trust me, as soon as you walk through the front door of this old trailer-turned-diner, you are both friend and family. Our motorcycle group from Adventure Riders, a world-wide website/forum (www.ADVRider.com) has dozens of riders from WV, VA, MD, PA, and OH who regularly go out of their way to stop here. Her house burned down in 2011, and several dozen ADV riders gathered for lunch one Saturday and raised over $1,300 to help her through her tough time. It was our way of repaying a small part of the friendship she has shown us over the years. Rella always has several home-made pies in the famous "pie fridge" and is ready to make you a home-cooked meal - be it a hamburger, meatloaf, pork-chops, or even the seasonal ramp dinners. Prices are very reasonable - most meals are $3 - $6. While you are there, Rella will be glad to share local stories and history with you. About the accommodations - the dining room is very clean, and Rella keeps a clean kitchen with fresh food. The bathrooms are old (remember, it's an old converted house trailer) so be prepared. For photos and more, go to the website www.RidingWV.com and click on the Dining Page to find my full review. Hope you stop by. I'm sure you will enjoy the home-cooked meal (and remember to save room for the pie!), and you will be part of Rella's large "family".

As a motorcycle rider with family roots in WV, I find myself frequently traveling many of the roads WV has to offer. One such road is Route 20, and this is where I missed the boat the many times I’ve been on it.
Just south of Hacker Valley on Rte. 20 is a doublewide I never gave a second glance. It looks like a part of the décor that adorns the landscape one sees when riding through this state. Come to find out this is a restaurant that goes by the name of Rella’s (Roadside) Café. But, this is more than a restaurant. Not only is it a place that provides a hearty and delicious meal that fills the body, Rella and her daughter Jeaneace also provide the genuine down home charm that also fills the soul.
I’ve been there many times since that initial stop and they’re like family to me now. In fact, they probably know more about me than my closest kin folk. Once you make that initial stop, you’ll be hooked.
Rella’s is 36 miles south of Buchannon, 18 miles north of Webster Springs, and 34 miles from Flatwoods.
