Actually came to this site to rate another restaurant just up the road from Ryder's; Boyer's Station, but that restaurant is not listed here. That's too bad because Boyer's Station is one of the best places you will ever eat if you like good food, a large variety of main courses, salads and desserts, clean, quaint atmosphere and friendly, professional staff. I remember the first time my wife and I were in that area. We stopped at Boyer's and could hardly find a place to park, it was very crowded. We were afraid that we would be in for a lengthy wait so we saw another couple walking in and asked them if they were from the area and that we had passed another restaurant called Ryder's on the way and also asked them which they would recommend. They laughed, said they were from the area and do ourselves a favor and eat at Boyer's. We were so glad we took their advice. We did eat at Ryder's a while later and found the staff was unfriendly and unattentive even though there were only a few customers there. The food tasted like deep-fried leftovers but was pricey for such a place. We will never return.

Stopped here on our way to Elkins, WV. Wish we had read these reviews first. There were no other vehicles in the parking lot, which should have been our first clue. We were the only customers until a gentleman came in, whom I assume was the owner. He asked how we were, where we were from and then sat down at a table and was joined by an elderly lady wearing an apron. I assume by their conversation (which was easy to hear because there was no music or other noise in the place) that she was his mother. A waitress finally came out and asked them what they wanted at which time they told ordered. She then came to our table and told us what the special was, which was spaghetti, salad, roll. The owners were served first and judging by the food on their plates, we were anxious to get ours because their food looked good. Our spaghetti was finally served and we were very disappointed. It looked like Chef Boy R Dee spaghetti and tasted worse. Our table was not checked, we weren't offered refills. Maybe the cook and waitress were the same. Who knows? I cannot believe this place is even doing business. There were no other restaurants nearby and we were hungry, but we would have been better off to have driven another hour to Elkins.

I was at Ryder's the day this group was there. They ate everything on their plates. The bread was burnt but the owners brought them fresh ones. They refused to take them! The restaurant was completely full with one waitress. These are the nicest people you will find in this great state who work extremely hard to make a living. Believe me, this place stays busy with many returning customers.

I ASKED THE WAITRESS TO BRING MY SON ROLLS THAT WERE NOT BURNED - I COULD NOT BELIEVE HER RESPONSE "THEY'RE HOME MADE" IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW THEY WERE MADE THEY STILL WERE BURNT BLACK ON THE BOTTOM! WE DID NOT LIKE THE SERVICE AND THE FOOD WAS NOT WORTH WHAT THEY CHARGED FOR IT - I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT.

Terrible food, obviously freezer/microwave yet expensive prices and service is even worse. We ordered chicken and it was deep fried until it was so hard that we really could not cut it with a knife. The mashed potatoes were instant with no taste at all and the salad could have fit into a tea cup. This meal came with a roll for $14.99. Waitress staff is unbelievably rude as well as uneducated. We were served rolls that was so burned that it looked charbroiled, when we asked for bread that wasn't burned, the waitress replied, "it's homemade." It was hard to even think of a reply that she would be able to understand. We explained that we could not eat burned bread and she yelled across the dining room, "Well there's the owner, tell him about it!" It was a surreal experience. Do yourself a huge favor and never, I repeat NEVER eat at this place.
