To the owner: This website is for REVIEWS. No one has done anything wrong by posting their opinion of your food and restaurant, that's why these websites exist, so others can read reviews to help make a decision on where they want to eat. It's obvious to me now that most of these people were RIGHT when about there negative comments on your attitude. I won't be stopping by your place for lunch.

Nothing special. The soup was above average and sandwich (a panini) was okay, but less than I expected. The service was rushed and the server seemed like she couldn't be bothered.

What is it with this place? so much potential but such lackadaisical execution?

I visited Susans European Cafe on June 29th. When I went to order the owner Susan was very pushy, it seemed as if she didnt want me to even be there. I wish i could say that I will be going back but if I do it wont be until there is a new owner. The owner should be the happest person in the building she has a beaudiful place. But the owner is not a happy person. And the stuff in the pastry case she doesnt even make. She says that she is busy. Busy doing what sitting at a table talking to people that came in to eat. I dont know I just hope her employees are nicer than the owner.

I visited this restaurant a few months back and found the food to be OK. I had a Reuben Panini. It was thin but had a very tasty saurkraut. I was thinking about giving the place another try but after reading the owners tirade, Ill be skipping it. Your statement that some customers don't deserve your best effort is the reason your employees are rude .They get it from you. Remember, the customer owes you nothing but the payment for services rendered. It is your job to make them happy without having to approach the owner or manager. You should be praising and cherishing every customer, not looking for or whining that there is no website that you could complain about them. You second statment sums up the true core of your restaurants problem. Your exact quote "You have no idea how many times customers come in and EXPECT to be treated with respect that they don't even deserve, because they are so demanding and rude themselves". They are the PAYING customer. You have a beautiful building . That is the foundation, now if you want to be in busniss in 10 years, service every customer like they are your best customer. Train your employees to knock there socks off with service. Above all pay attention to the food.
I eat out 4 times a week min. and I see that you gave yourself a perfect rating. Truth be told that, that is way off.
The only statement that you should have made on this site is one of an apoligy. Make a plea for this customer to come back and give you a chance you to make things right. Instead you have alienated me, my wife and many other potential dining customers im sure.

As the owner of this establishment I feel compelled to respond to the negative remarks made on this site. First of all, it is too bad that there isn't a site like this where restaurant owners and servers could go to complain about the patrons, who are never satisfied, no matter what you do for them. In this instance, I feel it would have been so much kinder and respectful to bring your complaint to ME, the owner. Instead, you chose to be hateful and take the cowardly route to make your feelings known anonymously. There are ALWAYS two sides to every story and usually one must question the ethics of the person complaining when they'd rather publicly criticize the whole establishment instead of the server at fault. Personally, I find this in very bad taste, because I was always under the belief that we should have the right to defend oneself against their accuser? Furthermore, if you were so dissatisfied on the phone, why did you even bother to continue placing the order? You have no idea how many times customers come in and EXPECT to be treated with respect that they don't even deserve, because they are so demanding and rude themselves. There is a saying that goes like this .... "Treat others the way you wish them to treat you." Unfortunately, that isn't how it works for the most part and many times there are those few that just enjoy being hateful. Like the ones that run right to sites like this and post negative remarks instead of dealing with the problem in a professional, respectable manner. I take it all with a grain of salt, because you can't please all of the people all of the time. However, I just wanted to air my opinion to let those who do read these comments know how hurtful this type of behavior can be. I am sure I speak for other establishments as well, when I say it isn't fair that anybody can post whatever they want without any recourse from the victim. Maybe if the accuser had a little more backbone to post their name, it would help make their complaint appear more trustworthy. In my opinion, anybody that has something negative to say about somebody else should openly give their identity if they wish to be taken seriously. Many times slanderous remarks are made by those that only wish to hurt and degrade others, because they don't allow any course of self defense. Step forward and equalize the playing field next time or kindly keep your comments to yourself. You wouldn't like it if someone did it to you. Remember ... Honor, Integrity and Respect are EARNED.

I have rated this posting accordingly to return my establishment back to it's original standing before this last posting. Thank you!

It is unfortunate that the lowest that the rating goes is "1". They were rude on the phone taking the order. They were rude when they told me I didn't know their policy about sides, and when I asked for an item on their menu, they told we that they obviously didn't have it. The food was soggy, and lack luster. It was not worth the $35+ that we spent on two sandwhiches and chicken tenders. And, worst of all, they were mean to Nana!!!

I come here often with either my friends or family. The paninis are delicious, and there's always a new flavor of gelato to try. For such a small business, there's quite a lot of variety and it always has a quiet, calming, atmosphere.

I just visited the cafe for the first time. I live in Hudson and have always enjoyed visiting local restaurants. When I tried placing an order I felt very rushed. The owner was extremely rude and pushy. When I asked a simple question she gave me a rude remark, I felt judged and very uncomfortable.
I went to the upstairs area to use the internet I sat in the corner which looked like a comfy and clean area. The woman brought my order up threw a napkin on the table and walked away without saying a word to me.

review_stars 01/15/2008 - Hello wonderful
Many people may not know that susan's cafe' has food. Thats because it does not say they do on their sign. But they have a great selection of panini's to hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken fingers. Susan also makes her own homemade soups like the one that was in the lowell sun, that is to die for her own Galumpki soup. But now she just added the most unbelieveable burger to her menu. She calls it a friggin burger because its so friggin good, and the size of it is friggin huge, and it is so friggin messy. But my momma always says the messier the better. Go in and try Susans food..

This is a great find! As an Italian native I was so overjoyded to find a local Cafe that actually serves autentic Panini.

The athmosfere is fantastic. Sitting at the cafe table eating the gelato made me feel right at home.

If you have ever travelled to Europe or you wish you could, You will enjoy a visit a Susan's cafe.

review_stars 08/01/2007 - Outstanding
I had the paninis and I havent found one that I didnt like. The server Mary-Beth is a plesant girl and makes fantastic tasting coffees. Susan is pleasant to talk to and makes homemade cannolis, that are to die for. The cafe is a relaxing place.. and I love how up stairs is for 18 and older so that we can get away for the children. To read or use the wi-fi. Check it out...You wont be disappointed :)

All four in our party had paninis - four different ones. We all agreed: delicious. Some had dessert - cake and gelato. Once again : delicious.
Susan was welcoming, service was efficient and pleasant.
We hope Hudson embraces this great new restaurant!
