Its is very very good food the lady who runs, the place is like family to you she will definitely make sure you ate full before you go and so many neat thing to look at while you are waiting...

I have visited the Star Cafe two times, the first time being for takeout and the second, dine in and I didn't find anything to brag about either time. I tried it two times before deciding that I didn't just catch them on an off day. The first time I thought perhaps it had to do with not being able to experience the inside atmosphere. I was wrong, the food doesn't get any better eaten inside. Actually, there's a newspaper clipping on the wall showing they won an award for an excellent burger. My husband tried to order a burger and they don't do a grill menu any longer. So umm...why do you keep this on the wall???
The negatives:
The catfish was probably straight out of a bag of frozen pre-battered catfish and run of the mill. The tarter sauce was probably homemade and the best part of the meat option.
Mashed potatoes and gravy: since we live around so many meat 3's, you have to meet the basics or exceed and these potatoes were just pitiful. Too soupy with chunks of hard bits and plain out bland. The gravy on top had an "off" taste, like the grease had went a bit sour, and it too was under-seasoned.
Mac n cheese: oh man, this was BAD. It was of the casserole/baked variety. The pasta was just plain turned into mush, the cheese sauce had separated, so it was in a puddle of white fluid and curds. There was orange crusted cheese on the top, at least what would have been the top if it had any structure left to it, that was edible at least. I had to scoop it up with a spoon to even try it. Again, no seasoning or very little
The meatloaf: was mushy, no crust and a small amount of runny ketchup on top. The flavor wouldn't have been awful if it had at least some seasoning in it other than onion. Sad.
The cornbread: had decent flavor but wasn't browned AT ALL. There seemed to be a trend with textures, mushy.
The Peach Cobbler: where's the PEACHES? It also had some uncooked doughy chunks. I guess that was the texture part of the meal.
The positive: it's cute inside, the people are nice enough. And the white beans were really good with onion. But did have to add our own seasoning, since nothing is seasoned.
