You know, I read a bunch of reviews for Deacon street prior to making reservations for supper, and I was a little scared. Here in August 2020 with businesses doing everything they can to stay open, serve safely, and keep the level of service up, it appears Deacon street truly made some changes. And they did it very well. I’d read of cold food, poor service, long waits and, in general, a sub par kitchen.
I didn’t see any of that. Service on a moderately busy night was attentive, wait time was standard, and the entrees were seriously generous.
We went on a Tuesday night(w/ reservation as required and standard for “covid times”) because Tuesday is two for one entree and the prime rib on the menu. The drunken mussels were five-star, the ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the prime rib was a huge plate of food. Nothing was cold, over/under done nor overly seasoned.
The only bummer was that the “chocolate bag” (dessert) was, and has been, off the menu awhile but was on the online menu still. I was really looking forward to the chocolate bag.
Don’t pay attention to the reviews over six months old. Deacon street’s gotta brand new bag!....it’s just not chocolate. Good work in the midst of unsettling times.
