I stopped here on the way to the Poconos with my husband and our 2-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son.
We ordered and waited for the food. The kids were a little antsy after sitting in the car for over an hour traveling from NYC. My husband took my 2-year-old outside so she could stretch her legs. After a few minutes, he took her back inside which made her upset and she started crying and throwing a tantrum. The tantrum at this point was going on for about two minutes when one of the waitresses came over to tell me that we have to take my daughter outside because apparently, the other patrons in the restaurant were complaining - amazing they were getting such terrible complaints from the four other people sitting in the restaurant immediately as the tantrum began. The waitress thought she was softening the blow by telling me she has three kids of her own. Any mother I know would have been mortified to tell another mother, to take her 2-year-old outside because grown adults couldn't handle a few minutes of crying. I took my son, met my husband and daughter outside, and left. We never plan on returning.
My husband and I were already upset and embarrassed that my child was carrying on, as other parents can imagine. My husband was going to walk outside with our daughter before the worker came over but the audacity of this woman to treat people like this.
Did Covid not exist in Lafayette, NJ? People are now adjusting to life outside of quarantine. Children are adjusting. The world is currently experiencing a mental health crisis. I think the behavior of this worker would be considered horrific at any time but in these times, I find it even more distressful and uncalled for.
Obviously, I do not recommend this place for families with children. You may have to leave if your children can't sit quietly.

Dining
I just left the Millside and I am very annoyed! I live down the road and dine there fairly often. I generally loved the place until now.  Today I was dining alone as I sometimes do. Millcreek is a seat yourself place and when alone I usually try to sit next to a window so I can read a book and relax. I have done this on weekend afternoons in the past with no problem. Today was a semi busy day and only one window table was available, so I sat there. It was a table for 4 but I looked around and there were still 3 large tables and one very large table open inside and two large tables outside so I sat down at the table I chose. A few minutes pass and no one addresses me, then a waitress, Eileen, comes over and asks if I'm waiting for anyone. I replied no and she asked me to move to a table for 2 against a wall in a dark part of the room. I explained that I chose the window for the light and she walked away.  A couple minutes pass and she came back and asked if I wanted to move to a corner table, also in the dark, and I again Said I'd like to be next to the window, so she asked if I'd like to sit outside! I explained that there were only large tables open outside (5 & 6seats) and that it did not appear that she needed the table for a party of four at that time. She told me she wanted to keep it open in case a party of 2 or more came in. I then got up and said I'd just be leaving because now I felt awkward. She didn't bother to apologize. I have been to this cafe many times, sometimes with my boyfriend, sometimes with friends, and yes, I've dined here alone before. I am also not the type of person who minds dining out or doing much of anything solo. I actually enjoy it from time to time, Until today!! I have never been made to feel awkward in a restaurant before! I am very upset by this!! Why should a solo diner be discriminated against? I the past I have loved dining at the Millside, they have good food and a nice cozy, comfy atmosphere. It will be sad to cross them off of my list of favorite spots due to the rudeness of one inconsiderate and quite frankly, stupid waitress!!
