I was eager to try out Blue Spice after seeing great reviews from other members of the community. Sadly, it was a pretty disappointing culinary experience.
The restaurant itself is well appointed - nice decor, incredibly approachable staff.
When we sat at our table, it appeared to have been cleaned with a dirty dishrag as there were pieces of dried lettuce or cabbage that I brushed away myself.
The drink specials were interesting and visually well done.
The Akiko Curry Chicken left a lot to be desired. Served with a generous portion of white rice and soupy sauce, there was a few cubed vegetables in the sauce, and 'chicken' katsu layered across. Note: the katsu is layers of breadcrumb with chicken no more than 1mm thick at any point. It was basically invisible, as was the flaked coconut described on the menu.
The Volcano Kimachi Fried Rice was a bit of a misnomer as well... it was more of a moat of eggs messily tossed on your dish in front of you.
Overall flavor profiles had promise, but actual deliver was lackluster. I was expecting more for the price point.
