I have never written a response to any media before. This time my experience was so appalling, I feel the need to warn others so as to not be humiliated the way we were tonight.
This terrible experience literally happened because we questioned our bill, which was about $1.50 difference. We asked our waiter what the price would be if we got the cheese fries not the bacon cheese fries. His exact reply was "between 4-5 dollars". So when we received the bill and it was I believe $6.99, I told the bartender this is not what we were told. Her response was "this is what we sell it for and pay your bill. " Mind you she had no problem ringing up our bill through the hour. When we asked to speak with the waiter that said this to us we were brought the owner.

First response to that thought was great. ......UNTIL his response was PAY YOUR BILL or I'm calling the POLICE. I assure you we were a quiet couple enjoying a night out and no one heard a peep out of us I WAS APPALLED and never so embarrassed in my life. We are 40 years old treated like were some kind of rukus trash. I can't believe my experience and how they could possibly be in business but if this review can save one other person the experience then its worth it. I will be contacting the Better Business Tomorrow to file a formal complaint as we were told as we were sitting there minding our own business and finishing our drink and now we are "trespassing".

Don't waste your time going to this place! Unfortunately, the food is good, but the service is absolutely horrible. If the waitstaff doesn't know you or thinks that you live in some of the nicer neighborhoods around, you will be ignored, talked to rudely, your food will be cold or they will refuse to serve you! It is not a fun place to go since the employees there are always trying to kick someone out for whatever lame reason. And sadly, the majority of the people from Clayton that have been here have had similar experiences. It is amazing that this place been in business for as long as it has. Cannot wait until The Clayton Draft House is built across the street and puts this place out of business!

On 10/19/2013 My wife and I visited this location for a nice evening out, as we have on occasions before. We were seated and waited for our drink order to be taken, another table was sat next to us after we had been waiting and they must have been friends of our server as our server ignored us in order to stand and talk to her friends, Finally after atleast 10 minutes or order was taken. I ordered a beer, my wife a soft drink, and we ordered an appetizer and 2 entrees. The server took forever to get our drinks out to the table, then even longer before the appetizer came out. When the appetizer arrived it was obvious that it had been sitting under a heat lamp for some time, the appetizer was bacon cheese fries and the cheese had become tough and chewy, and the fries were cold and tough, the appetizer also came with green onions on it which are not listed in the menu. We also received our entrees about 2 minutes after the appetizer, and again it was obvious they had sat under a heat lamp for quite some time. I ordered a French Dip and the top bread was hard as a rock while the meat was cold, and the cheese was very tough and cold, my wife ordered pasta with chicken, the chicken was very tough, dried out, and cold. I also ordered a second beer at this point, and after waiting about 10 minutes it was delivered to me warm because the server was too busy socializing to bring it from the bar. Finally it came time for the check and when it arrived I noticed a discrepancy in the total as there were multiple banners hung throughout the restaurant reading "Miller Lite Pints, 1.99" However I was charged 3.00 each. When I asked the server about this she said she would find out, and came back and very rudely told me that the special was only for Monday nights even though the sign has no indication that the special is for a specific day. During the entire visit to the restaurant there was absolutely no management presence at all that could be seen. I dont plan on returning to this establishment again, and I recommend that if you are looking for an enjoyable evening, that you stay away as well

They treat people terrible unless you are a regular drunk there. Menu limited, food nasty, and Eric the owner has no people skills. If you don't tip 20% or better, Ashley or her mom Karla will have Eric ban you from the place. Service sucks and they will curse at you if you ask for more tea. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I don't understand the 1 star reviews.......I've been in 3 times and Ashleigh, the bartender, knew my beverage of choice by the third night. She's always jumping....providing excellent and friendly service.

The food is good for pub food. Prime Rib (served Fri. nights) is excellent, but bring your own Horseradish.......Fish and Chips is as good as I've had (though they do adhere to the US version of "chips" rather than the UK version of French Fries, but at least their chips are excellent!)

I like the place.......good service, enjoyable food and tons of very friendly patrons with whom to strike up a conversation.

Check it out!!

McKinley's food is consistently good. The wait staff is usually friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is tacky and needs an update but they have a ton of big flat screens for watching sports. The beer is cheap and cold and the people are friendly. The beer cheese soup is amazing. The Monday spaghetti special is surprisingly good with a bolognaise-like sauce that is really good. I have never had a bad steak at McKinley's.

Let me start by saying that have been going to McKinley's for the past 11 years (as long as I have lived in Clayton). During the 11 years this has been the place that I would bring family, friends and co-workers for food and entertainment . As a Steeler fan I have also spent countless Sunday afternoons enjoying football and having many conversations with Eric (the owner as I unserstand). Based on all of this, I would consider myself a good customer. However, after my experience today, I will NEVER step foot in this establishment again. After my wife dropped me off at KcKinley's to watch football today, she was going to Lowes Foods and was undecided as to whether or not she was going to join me at McKinleys after shopping. I went to the bar in McKinley's and the game I was wanting to watch was not on one of the bar TV's. I went to a table to be able to see the game. Shortly after I sat down an unknown person with a Steeler shirt came over to me. He asked me if he could sit with me because he did not want to take up a whole table by himself. I let him know that my wife might be joining me but I would know in about 5 minutes. I let him know if she was not going to be joining me I would be happy for him to join me. This was the last that I heard from him and I did notice that he ended up sitting at the bar. The rest of the game was good. I ate some wings and drank some beer. Toward the middle of the 4th quarter (after the game was decided), I decided to go to the bar and stay for another hour. After I closed out my bill at the table I went to the bar and order a beer from the 4 O'clock bartender (the Giants fan). No more then 2 minutes later the blonde ( I think this is Eric;s girfriend) just started attacking me for taking up a table all afternoon. At first I though it was just a casual conversation because I have had many with her, but the more she talked the more I understood she was attacking me. She was cussing me out!!! Then I thought it must be a joke...but nop, she was definitely serious!!! I tried to explain about my wife being undecided if she was coming or not and saying that I was happy to let that person sit with me. I have no idea what her problem with me is. After I understood what she was saying to me I stood up and told her she just lost an 11 year customer and walked out. I just want to say that in my 43 years I have never felt compelled to write a review about a place because everyone has their bad days and people just have their own opinions about things. But let me say I have NEVER been treated like this before by any business that I have gone to before. Stay away!

Well you can certainly tell by the 2 awesome reviews that they either work there or own the place! The other reviews tell the real story. This place sucks, which sums up the whole town mainly. Angry redneck waitstaff with a constant chip on their shoulder. I guess they'll never get over being stuck in a min wage job in a &@?!hole town. (just go there...you'll see). A lot of potential but zero results. If you're from out town at least go up to Garner, it's worth the drive of 15 min's to get near civilization again.

Rude waitress and hostess. Work on your customer service skills! Won't be going back.

WOW this place really sucks...I wish I would have read these reviews before wasting my money on the crappy service we received even though it wasn't busy

Wings are puny on the sunday special, heard that they use smaller wings for the sunday wing special than what is used when full price is charged during the week. Nice. Menu is old and needs revamping, new fresher ideas. That "Big Bowl of Salad", about half as big as it used to be. All the staff could use attitude adjustments as well, don't know how he manages to stay in business with the inmates running the asylum.

Not a bad meal on the menu - and we've tried them all. Start with the boneless wings or cheese fries. Great service and an excellent atmosphere to watch a game or just hang out with the family.

Wont go back there, servers are horrible if they think you don't tip well enough. I guess they don't realize their attitudes contribute to the amount of the tip. The customer is never right there, its all about the servers/bartender.

I am from Rhode Island, and came to visit my brother and sister-in-law. they took me to McKinley's for a night out! The food was fantastic! The beer cheese soup was to die for. The service was great and there seemed to be very attentive to your needs. It seemed like there servers new exactally when to refill drinks, clear out appetizers, give the check. It is not a place to take your other out on a romantic dinner. More of a place to have fun, meet some locals, and enjoy excellent food! Atmosphere was friendly! It felt like I was at home, even though I was out of town!
