07/06/2025 - Unacceptable Management
The place appears very nice with beautiful views, but that is all I can say for the good.
Upon arriving for a confirmed dinner reservation at 7pm, we were told by the hostess that even though she was able to see we reserved inside dining, they would not allow us to sit in the main inside dining room. When I asked why, she said she did not know but qe would need to be seated at their outside dining area. At that point I asked to speak with the manager to get further explanation of why our confirmed reservation for inside main dining would not be honored. She then went to find a manager. After she returned and ignored us, asked if the manager would be coming out. She said that manager was busy, and she would have to find another manager. After another 15 minutes waiting, the assistant general manager came out and asked us what the problem was. I again explained we have confirmed reservations for inside main dining. At first he said they are not seating anyone in main dining that night. I asked why and he responded, that was the decision that was made. I asked why were we not made aware of this decision earlier in the day. We traveled over an hour to this restaurant. He then said, and I quote "well if you want to sit in the main dining that is OK but I don't know when you will be served". And at that he turned away from me and proceeded to speak to others that were also waiting to be seated in the dining room.
Needless to say, we consider this type of poor management unacceptable and we left.
And for anyone, patron or management that finds this establishments conduct acceptable, that is exactly why there are way too many that are similar. When we the public are "expected "by management of this or similar types of service industries to bend over and just take whatever we are given in such disrespectful manner, we will not see change.
I have been to numerous fine dining, service establishments across this country and I know for a fact that there are many places that do not find this type of management acceptable. And I do not believe this Chalet Restaurant at the Little Switzerland Inn should receive patronage of mine in the future.
Unless they are willing to CLEAN UP THEIR ACT. The food might be good, but this poor experience has left me with a foul taste at the start.
Dinners be ware.

Stopping by for a quick bite and a cold beer turned out to be one of the best decisions, especially with those incredible portobello fries paired perfectly with sun-dried tomato aioli. Sitting outside, the mountain views are absolutely breathtaking, making it feel like you're miles away even though it's right in our backyard. The rustic wood decor and friendly, attentive staff add to the charm, creating a welcoming atmosphere that keeps bringing me back time and time again.

We decided to stop for a quick bite and a drink, and it turned out to be a wise choice. The portobello fries were absolutely delicious, especially with the sun-dried tomato aioli. Enjoying our meal with a stunning mountain backdrop made the experience even more enjoyable. The rustic decor and wooden mountain range wall art added to the charming ambiance of the restaurant.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. The Friday night seafood buffet is awesome. It is pricey for McDowell County but is worth the drive. I can't say enough about the food. For Friday night, reservations are recommended.
