Did you know that a large cafe au lait with one shot of flavor costs over $10? At least it does here. When I was purchasing the coffee my husband and I were ahh-ing over the muffins and rolls, so when the cashier rang me up and said it was $9 and change I assumed my husband had ordered something before stepping outside. When she told me that she forgot to add the charge for flavored syrup the total became $10.04. I left a $2 tip and took my coffee and joined my family outside. I asked my husband what he ordered and he told me nothing. When he found out what I paid for a SINGLE CUP OF COFFEE, he went inside to find out why it was so expensive, thinking surely they had made a mistake. The cashier told him that the coffee was $3.75 but the shot of flavor was $7.00.
Odd, because she totaled me up at $9 before she said "oh, I forgot to add in the cost of the syrup shot". So, they ripped me off and then lied to my husband. Even if a SINGLE shot of flavored syrup was so prohibitively expensive, the least they could do is warn people. Worst of all I couldn't even taste the flavoring. Absolutely outrageous.
My review of the food the time we ate breakfast there: meh. Nothing all that great. For breakfast and lunch you're better off spending your money at the Old South Diner in Southern Pines

This is a perfect little place to take a rest while you are shopping in The Village. Great people that own it, they even make their own ice cream. Everything is homemade. Great place.
