Not usually a fan of Buffets.
But this one was really nice.
Good Food, Good Service, and CLEAN.
They played music outside for those that were waiting - Nice Touch

We entered the restaurant which was only about 1/4 filled and were seated immediately. Our waitress was warm and friendly. After we ordered our meals a large American Cockroach walked across toward our table which my daughter noticed and I stepped on to kill. We informed our waitress, as the roach was beside our table and in one of the highly traveled isleways.

Our waitress retrieved the thoroughly crushed roach and showed it to Doug (the owner). Doug came over to explain that the roach was a Palmetto bug which, by the way, is another name for an American Cockroach! (Google it) Which he wanted to argue about. The roach was not as big of a deal as Doug's attitude.

The food arrived to the table and my wife had ordered some blackened fish with a side of brown sugar glazed carrots. The carrots obviously sat around for a while and were placed on the griddle to reheat. The underside were coated with blackened seasoning from having been thrown on the same grill (dangerous for someone with an allergy to gluten already notified to the waitress-who knows what all they did not clean off the grill first) and then plated blackened side down to hide it. That was bad enough then...

My 11 year old son says, "That's it, I'm Done! We're out of here! Look at my okra!"

In his fried okra is a well fried bug!

I motion for Doug to come over. I show him the bug.

"What is that." he says, "I've never seen a bug in this restaurant before and now I have two at one table!" In a very snarky attitude. No apology! More like an accusation.

Needless to say we were all sickened by this and we left Five (5) nearly untouched meals on the table. I'm not usually one for drama and absolution, but I can say as long as Doug is the owner, I will NEVER RETURN to Crabby Mike's!

His attitude was HORRIBLE! Very arrogant!

Food was typically over priced for a vacation spot. Nothing special on the menu. When I go to the beach I want to find fresh local seafood very well prepared, and I'm prepared to pay a little more for it. At Crabby Mike's, we can get the same food back home in our local fried seafood restaurant for less money, better service and fewer added delicacies (yet to find fried insect on the menu back home). (Charges $.75 for refills of a $2.50 soda in a 20 some oz. plastic cup usually found in a cheap pizzeria.) Unless you live in an area where you can not get seafood, Skip Crabby Mike's! Then again skip it, there are much better sea food restaurants on TI and the surrounding area.

Nextime I vacation on Topsail Island I will drive the extra hour to Oceanic in Wrightsville Beach or to Wilmington for The Pilothouse or Elijah's for good seafood and great service and nice owners for about the same price. Or maybe we'll head north to Sanitary in Morehead City- the name speaks for itself!

The first year that they were there I enjoyed eating there. We went back the following year and they were horrible. Food and service were bad. We were extremely disappointed and have never been back.

Overpriced, average food. Way too casual and cramped of an atmosphere to be charging these type of prices. Never saw our waitress again once food was brought out (by another waiter). Huge disappointment.

We stopped in for lunch before leaving the island. We were looking for fish and we both thought it was very good. The blackened grouper sandwich was delicious! Price was comparable to others in the area. Our waitress was very friendly too. We will no doubt stop in when we visit again.

I didn't experience anything the other writers are talking about, we loved Crabby Mike's! Our food was delicious and our waitress was very nice and quick whenever we needed something. We did have a long wait for a table but that is the case in most places on Topsail.

Crabby Mike's was literally a 3 minute walk from the beach, and we enjoyed a fast and delicious lunch! I wish I could have gone for dinner after reading the dinner specials on the board. Still, we had some great seafood (including crab legs!) and awesome soup. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a neat, local, and friendly diner.

long wait for food, cold and overcooked it was aweful, also waitress charged an additional $50 over the tip I already gave, working with mgr and credit card company to fix

My whole family hated it! We all left in a bad mood!

The worst food I have ever eaten. And the waiter touched my food! No matter what your mood it will be worse when you eat their food.
