I dined at Ciao West last night and had an awful experience. For starters, service was extremely slow. It took a good 10 minutes for someone approach our table (after being served the initial water). During the meal, the waiter (who turned out to be the MANAGER) gets into a verbal argument with his girlfriend in the middle of the restaurant. Following her exit, he proceeds to complain about it to us and finally apologizes for the disruption. The food was so-so, the bottle of wine we ordered was not good at all. To top it all off, a 20% tip was already added on to our check (for a party of two??), and after they claimed it was only an 18% tip (simple math would tell you it was 20%), we asked to speak to the manager. The female waitress argued with me and was not refusing to get the manager. When the manager finally came by, they did not offer anything to fix the problem after we voiced our complaint. Needless to say, out of the all of the places in NYC, I would never go back to Ciao West.

I needed to work on my computer somewhere and I stopped into Ciao West to have breakfast. The bartender/waiter Gustavo was very attentive, bringing me complimentary espresso. And they have wireless and all day breakfast, which is really great. This place will be a new hangout for me!

I was at this restaurant this November 2008. Food is just Okay.
Service was the worse I have ever experienced in my life.
I was served by a young kid said his name was Sebastian.
The problem started when I ordered a glass of sangria. I asked if I could have it in a wine glass. I saw him pour my glass which I already drank from, back into the sangria container which serves other customers. He brings me the wine glass that held half as much but he charges me the full price. When I received the check it came with a 20% service tip all ready included. When I told him to take it off, he refused and said I should call the police. Lucky my wife was with me because they would be calling an ambulance.
Don’t waste your time and money on this place. There are plenty of restaurant around that area that will treat customers they way they should be treated.
