Dinner today 3/25/23 at Mary's Diner in Madison. Way different than 3 weeks ago, and couldn't wait to go back again today...was so excited! Ordered the same dinner as last time and it was the worst I've ever had. We've been there many many times and spent sooooo much money and its been 5 star. Feel bad for the waitress and mgr, they both agreed I was right. He even gave me an extra small piece of perch to make up for the huge portion discrepancy but it was just as bad and greasy and small as the other piece. When you order a wonderful 3 large piece crunchy fish dinner one time that was so yummy (and could feed 3 people) at $18 in a diner (expensive) then order it 3 wks later and it looks like a small child portion and tastes/smells like cod liver oil ($18) something is wrong. When the waitress first brought it to the table I told her it wasn't what I ordered, that's how different it was and smelled. Just awful. I took it home but I decided not to give it to the cats. My stomach is still messed up. A kids greasy small portion perch dinner for $18. No more. Would be great if the owner would read this and reply with an explanation

Food is not good. Chicken “tenders” are ground-up meat like Mickey D’s nuggets. Ugh! Fried fish is cod - little flat filets with no meat. I’ve been several times and still haven’t found something really good. Sort of pricey, too. The help are nice.

I ORDERED A SMOKEHOUSE CHICKEN DINER W/ A BAKED POTATO AND A SIDE OF GREEN BEENS ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED W/ THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD AND THE WAY IT WAS COOKED! CHICKEN WAS VERY TOUGH AND FLAVORLESS (LIKE IT WAS COOKED IN A MICROWAVE). THE POTATO WAS COLD AND HARDLY COOKED. THE SIDE OF GREEN BEENS WERE THE WORST I HAVE EVER TASTED. THE WAITRESS WAS VERY GOOD. SHE ASKED "HOW WAS EVERTHING?" , I HAD TO TELL HER HOW BAD THE FOOD WAS! SHE OFFERED ME SOMETHING ELSE, I WAS NOT INTERESTED. MANAGERS SERVICE WAS POOR HE NEVER CAME TO THE TABLE AND ONLY TOOK 5 DOLLARS OFF THE BILL. I'M WRITING THIS POST IN HOPES THAT THEY FIX THIS ISSUE. I ENJOYED THE ATMOSPHERE AND THE LOOK OF THIS PLACE.
