09/21/2014 - Darlene W
Had reservations for my birthday dinner. We were promptly seated and, I was appalled to see plates of olives, feta and dills already sitting out, uncovered on every single table. Once seated we were asked for our drink orders, but did not offer a wine menu or drink menu. I said I would behaving wine and asked for a wine list, my husband said he would be having a Caesar. Instead of returning with a wine list, the waiter returned with the Caesar and then left to go get a wine menu. He returned after several minutes and I ordered a bottle of wine. On his way back to the table with the wine, the waiter became engaged in a conversation with another diner. Instead of excusing himself and delivering the wine he chatted and left us waiting for several minutes more.....delaying our celebratory toast for several more minutes. We both ordered the filet mignon, it is supposedly one of their specialities. The steak arrived over cooked, with no sear, no seasoning and no flavour. My husband also ordered dessert from the open dessert trolley. He said it tasted like the frozen cakes available in any grocery store frozen food section. It was a disappointing evening from start to finish; poorly trained staff, poorly prepared food, and food sitting out, uncovered and exposed to germs, bacteria, and contamination from unknown sources. This is my first and last visit to The Lord Byron.
