I honestly do not like giving negative reviews unless it really is warranted. It is hard enough for any business to survive and thrive these days, but, sometimes its just necessary to share experiences in order to educate people so they can make better informed decisions or to prompt the business into making improvements. That being said, My family and I have been regular customers since opening but can no longer patronize. Although the food quality is good and the menu offerings quite unique, the price for the amount you get is inflated. The sandwhiches are quite small for what you pay for. After all, it is just a cheese sandwich, a rather small one at that. We ordered pick up and when I got home, the soup I ordered and paid for was missing. This happened once before. I had contacted the owner then and he was kind enough to leave a note for a "complimentary" soup for the next time I placed an order. Since when is an item you already paid for considered complimentary? So, in order to get the item I paid for, I would have to patronize his establishment again? Brilliant marketing ploy if i do say so, myself. Or I could just accept the loss. Those were the only 2 options I had. Although its nice of him to credit me for a soup I already paid for, I prefer the soup with my sandwhich. Otherwise, I wouldn't have ordered it in the first place. Especially when the size of the sandwhich is so small and the soup is half the meal. Quite frustrating when it happens repeatedly and the owner's only solution is to take it off your bill the next time you place an order. Very creative way to ensure repeat business. The next time I ordered, I got my "complimentary" soup but my order was wrong. I complained to the owner, yet again, and he offered to make me a new sandwhich if I drove back over. I do not reside in Tamaqua and it is a 20min drive for me. Perhaps if I was compensated for the gas (especially with the prices at the pumps these days) or the additional 40mins of my time to run back and forth it would be worth it. That was his only solution, so I was out of luck and ended up paying for a sandwhich that ended up in the trash. This last time we ordered, I was charged AGAIN for a soup that I never received. 3 out of 4 of the last orders I placed were either wrong or items I was charged for were missing. This is an extremely high and unacceptable ratio. I strongly advise checking your orders BEFORE leaving to avoid disappointment when you get home. The owner doesn't seem too concerned, his business must be doing well enough if he can afford to lose steady customers. If the staff would pay more attention to what they are doing or if the owner paid more attention to what's going on at that location, these mistakes can easily be avoided. I am still waiting for the owner to contact me regarding the charges for the soup I never received this time. There are far better and more deserving restaurants to patronize in the Tamaqua area that are locally owned and operated, give you what you order, and, with more bang for your buck!
