Top Reviews of Embers Steakhouse & Seafood

This stands quite possibly as my worst dining experience in York County. We were a party of 4. We ordered seafood exclusively. One member of our party ordered a trio, but cannot eat scallops due to a food allergy. The server told him they would substitute shrimp for the scallops on the trio. When the food arrived, there was only one shrimp added for the 5 scallops that were removed from the meal with no price adjustment. “jumbo” lump crab cakes served were the size of ping pong balls and without flavor. All hot vegetables were all served cold. All other food was luke warm or cold. The bread served was barely heated and tasted of cigarette smoke. A second glass of wine was ordered but never delivered to the table. In addition, the potato skins tasted of stale grease and were sopping with grease on the plate. Cheat beverage wine was served in water goblets so, as the server told me, the beverage wine could "breath". Her lack of knowledge was embarrassing, but I only smiled and remained quiet.

When we asked to see the owner, she did not come to our table for 15 minutes. When she finally came out to the table, she agreed to add 2 more shrimp to the trio. When she brought the shrimp, she showed great anger toward our table. She claimed we were nasty people with bad karma, though we had addressed both her server and herself with calm, polite speaking tones, in spite of the way we were being treated. She made repeated condescending and insulting remarks and did nothing but defend the incompetent server, who never once came to ask if the food was prepared correctly.

She did not adjust the bill, insisting that her food was “fantastic” and we were the problem. To top off this experience, one of our party used the single room bathroom where there was a mouse the size of a small cat running around the bathroom. When she came out and told the hostess who put her index finger to her lips to indicate we should keep quiet!

We paid our bill in full and prepared to depart. To my shock, the owner pursued us to the door to tell us we should invest in clothes suitable to go out to dinner, though the servers walk around wearing jeans, and other customers sat in tee shirts and shorts. Bottom line: Rude owner, incompetent servers, horribly prepared food, rodents on premises, and high prices for it all. It is clear they will not be open much longer because they don’t deserve to be. I would never recommend this place to an enemy, let alone a friend.

I am surprised Restaurant.com lists them. I surely diminishes their credibility as well.
