We were at Stoudt's last weekend for a late lunch. It seemed promising when we walked in the door and although there was not much choice for a vegetarian, I was pleased that they had a Portobello reuben on the menu. I ordered that sandwich with a side of potato salad. I was dismayed when the potato salad came out with the salads as I discovered it contained large chunks of bacon. This was nothing compared to the dismay I felt with my actual meal. After taking a few bites and thinking it was a bit dry, I looked under the melted swiss to see if there was indeed russian dressing on the sandwich as per the menu. I didn't find any dressing, but I did find large chunks of bacon! I doubled checked the menu to confirm that bacon was not mentioned in the description and spoke with the waitress. She said oops and then told me she'd "see if I can have that taken off of your bill!" Like I was even remotely going to pay for that??? It was removed from our bill, but the restaurant did not seem to care about the situation. I'm not sure if they just don't care about their customers (seems that way to me) or they figured bacon was one of those ingredients not needing mention on a menu. Thank goodness they hadn't decided to include something in the sandwich to which I am allergic. In any event, I think it is terribly irresponsible for a restaurant to fail to mention all ingredients on their menu. And somewhat worse to not even really care about customer satisfaction. Will NEVER eat there again.
