Well, if this place plans on surviving, it better think about putting out a better product. We are all about supporting local business, and are always looking for a great breakfast place on the weekends. We went to Emily's Cafe today ( Sunday, March 8, 2015), after noticing the sign up for several months. We usually go to the General Store across the street because they open by 7am and consistently provide a tasty and good breakfast at a reasonable price. We wish that we had gone there today. The coffee was barely warm and the only other diners in the place sitting next to us were overheard complaining about the same. I asked for hot coffee, as our fellow diners followed suit. Our breakfast arrived at the table, however the hot coffee did not. We were not offered water, so breakfast was eaten with nothing to drink. I had the french toast which was recommended by our server. It was $11.00, and was pretty tasteless unless you like the faint hint of burned. My husband had the corned beef hash. It was nothing short of horrible. The corned beef was cut into cubed, bite size pieces and was tossed in with a pile of potatoes so overloaded with rosemary that it was not edible. The corned beef was so tough and tasteless (the few bites there were), that he ended up leaving most of it on his plate. Our server never once came back to the table to ask if everything was okay, offer water, or anything else. She was not busy as there was only one other couple dining next to us.
These are tough times for businesses, especially restaurants, and this one is not likely to survive if they don't step up the service and provide a tasty meal. As I mentioned earlier, the french toast was $11.00 and the hash was $10.00. With the barely warm coffee, our tab came to just under $29.00. Breakfast never tasted so bad and we will not EVER be back.
