review_stars 02/15/2022 - Very poorly treated customers
I don’t even know where to begin. My husband and I went here for their Valentines dinner and were treated so poorly we were shocked. First of all, this was presented as a high end Valentines night with high end dishes. We got there and there were dollar store cheap silverware and we were given bottled water with no glasses. The server(who we think is the owners wife?) was wearing leggings, a tank top, dirty boots, and a knit cap. Not exactly what you’d expect for a fancy evening. No side plates were given with the appetizers so we had to share off of the dish in the middle of the table. We just laughed those things off and continued to enjoy our evening. Then our entrees came out and my steak, which I ordered medium, was black on top. I could barely cut it and it was very chewy. When the server came out to check on our food, we calmly told her that everything else was good but the steak was overdone. She said “it’s cooked on a flat top” and then walked away. Then she sent the guy who seated us (if she’s the owners wife, why is she sending the host to talk to us??) and I repeated that my steak was supposed to be medium and it was overdone. My husband also echoed that he had tried it and it was very chewy. The guy immediately got an attitude with us and told us that “one part of the grill is hotter than the other” (um what??? The answers they are giving us aren’t even making sense). So I try to let him know I understand but that doesn’t change the fact that I ordered a medium steak and didn’t get it. He walks away before I even finish talking and then no one comes to our table for like 20 minutes. They keep checking on the tables around us and ignore us. Finally, the server (wife?) comes back and takes my husband’s empty plate and asks how everything was. They literally tried to pretend there was never a problem with my steak and ignore the fact that it was still sitting on my plate. So my husband repeated that my steak was not prepared properly and nothing was ever done about it. She looked at it for the 3rd time and walked off again with no effort to correct it. The host came back AGAIN and got an attitude with us. He took the steak and said the chef wanted to see it. Then the woman came back and said they were going to take the steak off of our bill because they were out of steak. No apology and no offer for another entree. Just oh well you don’t get to eat. I told her I would like something else to eat and she said everything was preordered and there were no extras. That’s a total lie because we were never asked what we wanted when we made the reservation and we were not even asked our names or what we had “ordered in advance” when we got there. We were handed a menu and chose there, as did everyone around us. So basically they just didn’t want to give me food. After that, the host came out and tried to get us to swipe our card for $50, telling us they had removed $15 for the steak from the $65 meal for 2 promotion they were doing for the night. We said that was not fair considering we hadn’t gotten the desserts that were supposed to be included. He stormed off again without letting us finish our sentence and the woman came back, throwing takeout containers on the table with the desserts in them. She said we were trying to not pay for our meals that we “ate 90% of” and started telling us how expensive food was and that we didn’t understand how restaurants that order fresh food work. (Um we have both worked in restaurants and have also eaten at many nice restaurants. None of them ever treat customers like this and none of them dress like they are going to Walmart when they wait on customers either). But we remained calm and tried to express to her that we weren’t given the opportunity to eat 90% of the meal because we weren’t even given the desserts until that point. She again stormed off without letting us speak and then the cook/owner came storming around the corner and started saying that they were comping the entire bill. I tried to say that we didn’t want that and that we would gladly pay the $50 now that we had the desserts. He cut me off and started screaming. He basically said we were idiots for not knowing what a “French sear” was and then told us that we had 5 minutes to get out of his restaurant because he “had other people coming”. Which again is another lie because I was told when I made the reservation that it was a limited number of people at 6PM and that was it for the night. Again just wild behavior from an owner of any establishment. It was the craziest thing we have ever experienced in a restaurant. We were happy to pay the $50 as long as we got the desserts that were included in that cost and instead they refused to let us pay. Absolutely absurd couple that should not have a restaurant or any other place that involves caring for customers. Oh and my husband looked up a French sear and it’s cooking a steak to a golden crisp on both sides. So I’m not sure where he came up with the idea that it means burning the crap out of one side of a steak to the point where it’s black and you can’t chew it. Just a laughable establishment all around. Please save yourself and go elsewhere.
