Write a Review for Jan Mee II
Top Reviews of Jan Mee II
03/27/2010 - Susan Scharf
We went to the Jan Mee on St. John Street in Portland. We had an issue with the server Li Hong. Upon receipt of the check we laid out a gift certif and the tip. We had purchased the gift certifictes from an offer through a local {Portland, Maine} radio/tv channel. We did not notice the expiration date and although we made payment for the certificates we were told that they were no longer valid. I believe that legally a gift certif does not expire and we went on to state our case. My husband ended up having to argue with the server. Upon my husbands advise the woman supposedly went to call her Manager on the telephone. She came back and continued to argue with us saying she could only give us half the value of what the certif was worth. We actually have another $25. unusable gift certif for $25.
Eventually we let it go and paid the difference taking what we could from the tip we had orignally decided upon after we were left the check.
The server next went on to loudly talk about us with the patrons at another table. I was completely appalled.
I have never experienced anything like this in a restaurant. It was totally wrong and unprofessional.
I am a fairly easy going and forgiving person.
I am still astoundted at this woman's lack of manners. It plainly lacked class.
