I write in Spanish because not even write anything good in English. Then I will use google translator, but the translation is not very good.
A few days ago my husband took me to lunch at the arepa and attention and food were not what I expected. We ordered 2 Pabellon criollo and dishes that were good, my husband even left with a bit hungry and at the end asked his plate Cachapas pabellon. At the time when we bring the Cachapas asked to move the cutlery and Mr. May was serving us told us that because we were still using the silverware that we had already used, and I told him to please change them as they were dirty and SR. Bother (assuming we're paying for a meal and apart for a good service and attention. Chachapas also tasted the strange as that preparicion was damaging or not it was exactly, but it was a very strange flavor and did not know to Cachapa, also the mango juice was very watery and did not know to handle. PAY ATTENTION tO THE SERVICE, tHE FOOD IS vERY IMPORTANT aND SPECIAL TREAT customers well to return. I live between the U.S. and Panama, in Panama Venezuelans are 2 restaurants to which I very seguigo and treatment and food are very good, the waiters and the owners very friendly and so I should be attention on the Arepa (IMPROVE YOUR SERVICE aND aTTENTION) ...
11/13/2010 - small kids not welcome
Sorry to disrupt the love-in for a place that many people clearly like, but our family had a terrible experience here.
Our evening began with lectures from the owner/waiter about not touching the aloe plants and my daughter was told to "be still." She's 4! This guy should go back home to work for Hugo Chavez.
The worst part was when we had an accident at the table. The owner literally rolled his eyes, sighed, and tossed a roll of paper towels on the table. Then he stood behind the bar, watching, not lifting a finger while my wife and I were cleaning up the mess on our hands and knees. He seemed to enjoy our humiliation. The mess? My daughter threw up at the end of the meal -- not a good advertisement for the food.
We eat out a lot, often at small ethnic places, and rarely get bad service, but this was the first time we were made to feel unwelcome. We will be exploring the many other South American eateries of Providence, Pawtucket and CF before we ever return to La Arepa.

This small unpretentious Venezuelan restaurant has great food. My son lived for a time in Venezuela and learned to love the food there, especially the arepas. He said this restaurant is as good as it gets and I fully agree. Whenever we travel away from Arizona we seek out a Venezuelan restaurant to try out and this was one of the best we have encountered. Our waiter was the owner, and along with his wife, who is the cook, they were exceptionally gracious and provided outstanding service. Overall, our experience at La Arepa was outstanding and I can't imagine any other patron feeling any different.

We LOVE this place!! It feels very homey even though we are not venezuelans. The food is great and the owners give personal attention to every table. The neighborhood is a little scary, but, once inside, you just enjoy!!!
