I went to Sakura with a large group of college students for a friend's birthday, and we had a reservation for the back room so they knew we were coming. When we walked in, the waiters immediately shouted "no sake bombs" at us. The room was not set up when we got there - it did not even have chairs, and we had to wait for ten minutes for them to bring them. They flat-out refused to bring us water or menus. We finally got water after half an hour of argument and finally got six menus between the fourteen of us. When we went to order, they told us it would be ten dollars minimum per person. We ordered a few meals and several rolls of sushi, so it was understandable that they made a few mistakes, but when I pointed out that we had not received one of our rolls they completely denied it and told me I was rude. When we got the bill, it only had letters and numbers, plus the prices - no list of what we ordered. We asked for menus so we could compare the numbers, and they refused to give them to us or to tell us what was on the bill. To make matters even worse, this was the second time I had received outrageous service. If you want Sushi, go to Tokyo - the sushi's at least as good, it's less expensive, and it's literally a block away.

Best sushi in RI hands down! Service is great! Love the cozy atmosphere where you sit on the floor. Really generous portions of fresh fish at a great price! Been twice and not stopping any time soon! Love it! Freshest sushi outside of Hawaii - I've tried it all!

Very Very good food. I went there with my very picky younger brother he asked for no vegetables on his plate. the cook forgot but the waiter was kind enough to notice and bring him another dish without the vegetables. Very good service. only downside is that they take their time coming to ask for your order. Prices are very good i got a full dinner that included miso soup, ahiru (duck pieces with sauce), and the yoshi no yaki(teriyaki beef fillet). all for 13.75 for picky eaters i recommend the wakadori its a chicken fillet with a really yummy sauce on the side. all in all it cost 40.95 for two two full dinners, two green tea ice creams and tip. I highly recommend this restaurant. i even got to sit on the floor like they do in japan.

I'm surprised of some of the reviews. People are always friendly there, always had good service. Its fun for the family too. If your so worried about a perfect Japanese emulation then go fly there. :)

I love the food here and for the price it's even better. The atmosphere isn't the best but the food makes up for that. The green tea ice cream and red bean ice cream are great.

My wife is Japanese and I've spent a lot of time in Japan.
This is a Chinese restaurant serving a poor imitation of Japanese food. Rude staff and horrible atmosphere.
Won't return, won't recommend. Run away!

I just read the reviews after dining at Sakura and I was shocked. Our server was friendly, the food came out super fast and the prices were great. the eggplant and miso app (not listed on the lunch menu but is available) is amazing. We had several maki rolls and all were good. I disagree that tokyo i better, although they do have some more inventve (and more expenvsive) rolls.

If you've never eaten good sushi in a city outside Providence, you'll probably love this place. I think it's awful. Their nigiri isn't fresh looking and their rolls aren't inventive. Maybe the rest of their menu (noodles, tempura, etc) are good, but why would you go to a Japanese restaurant with bad sushi? I was utterly disgusted by this place, and every time I walk by on a night that it's busy I want to play the Pied Piper and lead all their sucker patrons up the street to Tokyo.

the food at sakura especially the sushi is great and the prices are very reasonable the service is fast however it isn't a good thing they are always trying to rush you out as soon as you sit down and the and i have been in there several times and only once did i have a good server everyone seems to be snobs in there TOKYO is a much better restaurant and its just up the street the the food, service, and atmosphere are excellent and the prices are just as reasonable

the sushi is not "s--- yourself" spectacular, but it is very good for it's price, and the take-out is extremely quick (always fifteen minutes or less for pretty much anything). the atmosphere and food is better than tokyo, which is right up the street. people often complain about the rudeness of the servers, but i have never had this issue.

The service is awful, they will make you feel like you need to leave if you are sitting there too long. I say eat at Tokyo, they are so much better in all categories

I have been going to this restaurant for years and highly recommend it in terms of good quality. Great Sushi!! Also I love the atmosphere which is very relaxed. At times it can get loud- like on a friday night, but most restaurants are during weekends anyway. Great place to just hang out with a group of friends. My husband and I go often and the take-out is quick and just as good.
