Surprisingly good, reasonably priced, and very attentive service. I had a very good hamburger with gorgonzola, my daughter loved her macaroni and cheese (not from a box, but creatively made), and my wife had the nachos, which came in an edible bowl and were fairly impressive. With a couple of sodas and a bowl of chowder, it came to about $35, so for the money, we were satisfied.

I ate at Spats while on a visit to Providence August 2009. I indulged in a Grilled Tuna (Ahi) Sandwich that was amazing. My taste buds are still singing! The tuna was served rare and sliced on a softly grilled ciabatta roll. The lettuce and tomatoes were a refreshing counterpoint to the wasabi/aoli mayonnaise. I requested a cup of the cold avocado soup to accompany the sandwich instead of french fries. It was fabulous as well.I don't usually order sandwiches but the tuna was too much to pass up. An amazing meal....very reasonable. Thank you Spats.

Food was OK, Hostess was unbelievably uninterested and when asked a question just kind of glared at you. The waitress kept trying to take our dishes away while we were still eating. She did this several times. Felt VERY rushed. The menu posted here is not the same menu in the restaurant. Just slight variations. I think this is a better place to go and have a drink and watch the game. If you want a pleasant dining experience, look elsewhere.

I should mention, it took our waitress literally 20 full minutes to return our credit cards when asked to split the bill amongst two cards (two couples were dining). Apparently the 50% math skill required ere a bit much.

Mediocre food, hostile service and a lame atmosphere--what more could you ask for? I've been going with a group of people monthly to Spats for about a year now and have witnessed its decline from a pub with above average food, indifferent service and a pleasant, laid-back atmosphere to a pub with below average food, wretched service and a loud atmosphere of giant-screen TVs and frat kids from Brown.
The service is nothing short of horrendous. Our server ignored us, screwed up our order, screwed up the check, then failed to return any change (apparently believing she earned a 30% tip), all the while exuding an air of contempt and scorn. Meanwhile, the "manager" or owner, I have no idea which, stood around with his arms crossed bullshitting with large tables of frat kids instead of helping out his obviously over-worked waitstaff. So long, Spats. I'll never pay money for that kind of punishment again.

I really enjoyed eating at Spats while in town on business. The waitress was very attentive, the draft Sam Adams was cold and refreshing, and the ravioli I had for dinner was delicious. I also enjoyed a delicious apple crisp with ice cream and strong coffee for dessert. It was an amazing value for under $25 for the entire meal.

terrible! i will never go back there again and neither should anyone else, the owner / manager is a rude and very ignorant individual, i simply asked about the wine list and he became irrate and very rude with me, i have never been treated with such disrespect!

I love Spats. The food is excellent every time I go. It's a pretty good value, too -- you usually get a lot of food for what you pay. And the quality of food is great. It's clean, with very nice hard wood tables and floors, and even though it's a "bar," it's certainly appropriate for all sorts of events. The service is casual, but they're usually pretty good at keeping up with what you want and bringing the food out in a timely manner.
Overall, a great place to go.

Everything was great. Huge portions and great service. However, on a different day I walked by and watched veggies being scooped up off the rear parking lot and put back into the box after a delivery. I hope that would be thrown away but I doubt it since the dumpster is outside.
